Customer Questions & Answers

Will this fit 5 1/2" railing?

Asked by: Kasey
Watch out. It SITS on a 6" railing and you would have to get long screws to secure it. It fits OVER a 4" railing.

what size railing does it fit?

I have a six inch rail. will the planter fit?
Asked by: charlie
it fits a couple of different railing sizes. My railing was narrower that the smaller opening. Although they give you a spacer to hold it securely they only hold it securely in the very middle. The ends will move in the wind. I think the write up should tell you what size railing it fits.

Does this planter have to be screwed/fastened to the railing?

Asked by: Njchris
The planter has unique clips which are easy to fasten tighter to the railing post. Others I had used required me to jerry-rig something to prevent twisting on the railing.

How do you get the bottom to fit 11/2 railing. How does it expand. There are no directions

Asked by: Lori
There are 2 small plastic pieces that either come off the bottom groove or can be tightened up to hold the horizontal rail. Thanks for your question and good luck.

Bloomers Series 24 in. W x 12 in. H Brown Resin Deck and Porch Rail Planter is rated 3.8 out of 5 by 102.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Exactly what I needed Our fence is pretty thin (1.5") so I was having a tough time finding large planters that would fit the narrow rail. We also needed something that wasn't permanent since we're in a rental. These planters were the perfect solution. A little wobbly at first, but the included stabilizers have kept the planters secure and level even after heavy waterings. I spray painted ours a different color and drilled more drainage holes. Adding a chicken wire bonnet gave the morning glories and moonflowers something time climb on. We've been pleased with our purchase and really have enjoyed the extra garden space it gave our boring concrete patio!

The stickers on the side were a pain to remove- GooGone didn't work and I was afraid to use mineral spirits on plastic. Finally, baby oil and my thumb nail did the job. The securing brackets are packed inside the planters for shipping, so be sure to remove them. I added two 1/8 inch drainage holes to each planter at the lowest points, then used a few inches of medium river pebbles before adding the potting mix. The planters are on a second floor balcony railing that is steel and 3 inches wide. I believe they are secure enough to withstand any windstorm- it would take a purposeful shove to dislodge them. They've been up for two weeks now and look great. The tan color, which I wasn't crazy about initially, matches the stucco perfectly

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Quality Product at Reasonable Price I had been getting railing flower boxes from a local hardware store and had to replace them every two to three years. They were made of a plastic which broke down in the sun and heat of NC; they just deteriorated and fell apart. My recent purchase from Home Depot provided a flower box which is of much better quality and better design and even less expensive. I chose the light beige color because no white were available, but they still go well with our white deck railings. GTB

Appears more cream/beige than white. Looks terrible against my white railing. Will be taking them back and continuing the hunt for real white.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Advertised measurements for fitting wide railings is incorrect! The product description indicates this will fit on railings which are up to 6 inches wide - this is incorrect. I have 5.5 inch wide railings and this do not fit onto the railing. I wouldn't recommend these if your railings are over 5 inches wide. It's too bad because these are exactly what I was looking for. They seem sturdy and well made and the color (I purchased the ivory) would have blended perfectly with the color scheme I was going for. Sadly they're going back because they won't fit on the railing, and I live in a condo building so need something that secures to the railing to prevent them from blowing off when it's windy.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from I really wanted this to work! I really liked the color I ordered and the look of these planters, so I ordered 2 of these them for our deck & had to return them. Our rail is an odd size - 2 3/8" wide, so I was encouraged when it was described as adjustable. There is a built in 1" - 2" & 4" area in the planter & you use the resin pieces to adjust to fit your rail. They wouldn't fit in the 2" step & I didn't feel the pieces provided would be able to hold these in the 4" area securely. I would suggest carefully measuring before you order then decide if it will work for you. I would have loved to kept them!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent for a 3.5" wooden fence top I read previous reviews warning consumers that this planter was not for 6" width railings as it advertised. They stated that these planters fit a 4" railing. I decided to take a chance and purchase these for the top of my fence which measured approximately 3.5" wide. I ordered six. They fit snuggly and gave me the added height and privacy I was looking for. I plan on ordering three more to complete the perimeter of my fence for this spring. Note that if you have a smaller rail, the planters come with pieces to allow you to adjust the width and fit of the planters. I hope this helps.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Like the size but not the fit. Like the size of it but it doesn't really fit the railing securely. Ours is metal and 1.5 in width so instead of sending it back I got my husband to put some 2x4 under it. I would have sent it back but the price I paid was probable what I would pay for postage. It is secure now and I have my herbs planted in it.
