I bought two of these planters for my front porch. The rails measure only 3 inches in width. After reading other reviews, I just added some thin semi-rigid foam to fill in a small gap in the space where the planter fits onto the rail, and used the stabilizing legs against the balusters. Very nice design. These are very attractive and stable. I am very happy and plan to enjoy them for many years.

I purchased these over-the-rail planters on-line. The advertisement said they would fit a 6-inch deck railing, but the opening was only 4 inches. I ended up returning them. Someone at Home Depot should check the measurements before allowing something to be sold incorrectly.

They appear cumbersome, too large on top of my railing. I am using them as regular planters on the floor of the deck instead.

Might be good but the opening is not 6 inches. Only a railing of 4 inches or less will work. Because ours is 5 inches, the product was returned with disappointment.

Decent sized planter, easy to install. A little annoying because it doesn't sit flush on the railing, had a slight rocking length-wise..

I know that this review seems odd but the planters I ordered were well made but too large for the area I wanted to put them on. Would recommend them to people with large decks.

I ordered 11 of these for my new deck. The product advertisement said it would fit rails up to 6 inches wide. My rails were 5.5 inches wide. The planters were way too narrow. You might be able to use them if your rails are 5 inches or less. Also, each one came in a separate box. So there were 11 big boxes in towers on my front porch. For me to return them, I would have to unpack, take out the return label , fill it out 11 times, repack and get them all to UPS. Really inefficient. They could easily have been stacked in two boxes, they are very light. Now I have to have a handyman cut the bottoms and refit them with something that will fit my rails. This was a really bad experience.
