Customer Questions & Answers

Will this fit 5 1/2" railing?

Asked by: Kasey
Watch out. It SITS on a 6" railing and you would have to get long screws to secure it. It fits OVER a 4" railing.

what size railing does it fit?

I have a six inch rail. will the planter fit?
Asked by: charlie
it fits a couple of different railing sizes. My railing was narrower that the smaller opening. Although they give you a spacer to hold it securely they only hold it securely in the very middle. The ends will move in the wind. I think the write up should tell you what size railing it fits.

How do you get the bottom to fit 11/2 railing. How does it expand. There are no directions

Asked by: Lori
You should have two plastic spacers that fit into the notched channels midway in the bottom of the planter and adjust back and forth. I found these spacers to be inadequate so I used strips of lattice on either side of the railing to form a snug fit along the entire length of the planter. These spacers may be attached to the the planter with glue or to the railing with tacks.

Bloomers Series 24 in. W x 12 in. H Terra Cotta Resin Deck and Porch Rail Planter is rated 3.9 out of 5 by 118.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Exactly what I needed Our fence is pretty thin (1.5") so I was having a tough time finding large planters that would fit the narrow rail. We also needed something that wasn't permanent since we're in a rental. These planters were the perfect solution. A little wobbly at first, but the included stabilizers have kept the planters secure and level even after heavy waterings. I spray painted ours a different color and drilled more drainage holes. Adding a chicken wire bonnet gave the morning glories and moonflowers something time climb on. We've been pleased with our purchase and really have enjoyed the extra garden space it gave our boring concrete patio!

The width across this railing planter would require several (3 or so) rows of small plants and quite a bit of soil to stabilize. ( Did not try to use the plastic brackets to fit into grooves on the bottom to attempt to adjust to railing width.) I purchased two 24" planters elsewhere that only required a 6-cell package of flowers (3 each planter) and much less potting soil. Also, I was extremely dissatisfied with the poor quality and style of the hanging planter brackets and baskets available online and in store. The brackets were flimsy and did not grip the planter securely (too wide) or adjust easily to railing width.

These needed a little adjusting to fit my 1" railing so they wouldn't tip when the cat decides to explore them. I used paint stir sticks to fix the wobble problelm. The adjusters included are only for use on 2X4 railings. I bought these because they were the first affordable planters I found for metal railings. I would have purchased a different color but the prices went up for those. Overall decent product.

I only ordered this product because the description said it would fit a 6in railing. The only problem is that it sits on the railing rather than sittng over the railing. With children on my deck, this would be unsafe. I had to return the three I ordered and am still looking for some that fit over the railing.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Works and looks nice Fits over the 1 inch top rail of my porch. Youcan't put really big flowers or plants in it because of the center tunnel but you can put a lot of smaller flowers in it. The clay color looks nice but it is plastic so it will bulge a little once you pack the dirt in. Not really a problem. Basically the only planter I found that would work on my porch. Nice price, too.

In design they are a step above planters available at most outlets and they are substantial and solidly made to last a long time.
