Customer Questions & Answers

I would like to know if the top container can be filled with soil and a tomato plant planted

Asked by: ygd8513
Yes I did, I did not use self watering feature, just filled with miracle grow potting soil. Must use light soil in these containers or legs may buckle or break.

can i use this indoors?

i wanted to use this indoors. will it leak all over the house
Asked by: storm
Don't forget that depending on what you are growing, you may need bugs to pollenate you veggies. My friend in the bay area tried to grow tomatoes in her sun room a few years ago. Lots of blooms but no tomatoes. It took her a few weeks to catch on.

Mulch cover

Is it possible to order a replacement mulch cover for this garden? I picked up two of these at a garage sale but they did not include the covers.
Asked by: tradewinds222
I purchased 3 foot wide black plastic sheeting, then cut it 6 inches wider than the planter. Works just as good as the original and for $15, I have a lifetime supply (50 feet long, so equals about 25 mulch covers). I think it was 4 mil, but the original might have been 6 mil. I also found that electrical tape works better than the rubber band which came with the planter. The rubber bands get broken down by light really fast--like 2 weeks. Electrical tape pulled tight lasts and lasts. I've also used binder clips to hold the mulch cover to the edge of the planter, but they rusted in the first rain.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Great idea.....poor construction This planter seemed to have everything I wanted - a raised bed, storage shelf underneath, wheels so I could move it around my little patio. I was able to put it together easily. I followed the directions in the package about using potting mix, dolomite and fertilizer, and withing a few weeks I had a bumper crop of salad greens. The watering system works beautifully. After about 6 weeks, I came home one night to find that one of the legs had pushed down through the base and the whole planter is now tilted down towards one corner. The bottom of the planter is bulging and I can see that the other legs are at odd angles and I will have to harvest the lettuce that is left and take it down. (I had previously harvested about half of the greens.) Judging from other reviews on Home Depot only, I am far from the only one who has had this problem. The company should really fix this or take it off the market. I didn't even get one season out of it.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Lasted only a few weeks before it colapsed Base collapsed after only a few weeks. Put together as directed. Plants still small. Base section with wheels buckled and wheels folded underneath. Base section just not sturdy enough to support the top box with all the weight of dirt and water. On smooth cement patio so no extra stress on wheels. Bought three. Checked and the others have stress buckles also. They are too heavy to lift off the top sections and try to use them without the legs. I'm going to lose everything I planted. This product has not been adequately tested and trialed. Great idea. Poor execution.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fast and Easy Set up! Looks beautiful! The Easy Pickers Raised Garden Grow Box was really easy to set up and is very pretty. It's sturdy and when put together holds tight. It's on wheels so you can move it wherever your plants like to be during the day or week and it has a convenient bottom shelf. You will need to gather a few items ahead of time, specifically a good potting mix, lime and fertilizer. Just follow the directions. I couldn't believe how fast and easy everything was! You can plant seedlings or seeds. I used a razor/utility knife to make the 'x' slits for the tube and plants. I can't wait to see my plants grow!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Mine collapsed after 8 months Loved my Easy Picker on its rolling wheeled base. Well, that is I loved it for my first 8 months. Got lots of great lettuces, spinach, radishes. The weather got a little warm this month, about 92 degrees F, and the base deformed and the legs deformed, and now I have the planter sitting on the ground, and some funny shaped base and leg pieces. This guy cost $49, and I ended up with the model which cost $29. I saved the paperwork, but there is no mention of a warranty.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Cheap plastic legs I bought this product yesterday and put it together today. One of the legs broke after I put the water, potting mix and vegetable plants in it. The one leg punched right through the plastic clips that are suppose to keep that from happening. I would have taken it back, but I already planted in it, so now instead of being on legs, it is just sitting on the bottom shelf. I do not recommend this product.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Colapsed after 3 months I bought this system at a Home Depot store. I set it up 2 months before it was warm enough to plant. After I set up my plants it collapsed. The legs aren't sturdy enough to hold the weight. The worse part is that I paid full price and when I went to return it, they only gave me back 50% of what I paid. I had lost my receipt and they didn't sell it in stores any more. I am upset, I not only lost my plants, but also half of my price.!!!
