Yes. I went from where it empties into a manhole back up my sewer drain, until I hit a 90 degree elbow and then a coupling. It doesn't like those.

the snake is 25ft so if the clog is at 25 feet, I don't know if its enough to make it work. I should have left 1 star as it can't do ANYTHING but a straight line.

Hi Scott,
This snake will work fine for your application, however if you have a serious blockage a powered snake will be more effective.

Will the rod make the initial 90 degree bend?

I have a rain gutter draining in to a 3" pipe at ground level, that then makes a 90 degree bend to the main run of below ground pipe. I won't be going through the gutter or downspout, just the 3" pipe. Absolutely no bends or just the one bend is feasible?

Answer:
No. It WILL NOT make the 90 bend. Do not frustrate yourself, buy a different tool for the job.

Answer:
It will make the first turn if you can hold it near the tip and use your hand to bend it into the opening of the main drain pipe. You basically have to feed it to get it started.

The rod is a flat one much like a tape measure, but stiffer.
The tip breaks rather easy and can't do any turns angles in the line.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Excellent Easy to use and well made. Works well even fully extended July 12, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Drain Snake Good product for clearing pipe drain clogs , only down side is a little tough to turn the snake due to the flat rod shape. Over all it works well and will do the job. Product would be Five star rating if the rod turned easier. May 3, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Sewer rod used in conduit It performed just as we expected it to. We would buy it again April 12, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Not your best choice for snaking out a sewer line This is sold as a sewer clean-out tool, and it will work in limited situations. It is constructed of flat metal that will only bend in one direction, and not make any sharp bends at all. Typical sewer systems contain several turns that are not in the same direction, and so this tool will not help with most homes. It is somewhat useful in the main house clean-out if it only has the one long curve and then a straight run, but then you cannot spin the thing, only continue in a straight line. The end is a small arrow-head shape which will poke through clogs if they are not too tough, but probably wouldn't help with tree roots or serious clogs. I do not recommend this encased sewer rod. December 8, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Perfect kitchen clog clearer. It works perfectly for me. My kitchen drain go clogged 3 times in five years around January & February in Seattle area when grease got condensed and blocked the pipes. I did use drain snake once to clear out the clog. and then a year two later. The drain snake became unsusable. So I bought the encase sewer rod. The new tool is very easy to use and to clean. It works much better than the drain snake. I would highly recommend it. Remember to clean each usage. February 9, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Worked well It's a dirty job any way you do it, but this product kept me fairly clean. It is stiff enough to do the job, and flexible enough to make it around the joints. Light weight, easy to clean up. December 8, 2015
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by sewer snake It wasn't as good as a spring type snake.it would do in a pinch though. December 8, 2015
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Works for me. I like that I don't have to actually touch the wire. October 6, 2015
