Fortunately, Home Depot sells another garage door insulation product that works well, with R8 insulation winter and summer: Owens Corning Model # GD01, Home Depot Internet # 202257272 Store SKU # 744925

Dear iPlus10: No reflective insulation product is effective in winter because cold cannot be 'reflected' and warm air, e.g. inside a house, is not radiant -- so they cannot block the cold, or keep warmth inside your home.

Home Depot offers another product, however, that is effective winter and summer -- and easy to install: Owens Corning Model # GD01, Home Depot Internet # 202257272 Store SKU # 744925. This will give you R8 performance, winter and summer.

Mounting a radiant barrier on the inside can create problems with modern multi-pane windows. The combination of inbound and reflected heat can damage window seals and warp the frame. So external mounting is best.

I hope this is helpful.

I saw that it claims no tools are needed but I didn't see anything about if it was backed with adhesive or how it adheres to the roof with no tools

Rated 4.3 out of 5 by 29 reviewers.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by A must have! Great for camping! This 'blanket' is a must have for camping out. So much sturdier than the plain sheets now available & specific for the purpose. Holds the body heat in so much better. And it comes big enough that I can cut it to size. Also good for reflecting the fire, either in, or out of, the tent, lean-to, etc... And reflective for emergencies if needed. I can fold the entire thing, 4' X 12', to fit into a flat gallon kitchen bag, and it is light weight for backpacking. Perfect to keep in the trunk of your car for emergencies. It has so many uses. One of those 'Never leave home without it" things! It could save a life! August 9, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Radiant barrier Hard to rate totally without being to tell how much better the insulation is with time. May 29, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Worked great! I used this insulation on the floorboards of my 1970 Corvette to keep the engine and exhaust heat out and so far it is working great. Before, after driving for about 40 minutes I could feel the extreme coming from under the car. Now it just stays comfortably warm. May 3, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by wrong measurement It was at least 1 1/2 feet short. Distributor promised replacemnt, over a month ago but have not received it. April 12, 2016
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by NOT FOR COOLER CLIMATE ZONES Before installing this barrier, I went to read up on it. Several energy webpages were saying its not practical in cooler zones, mainly because you want to capture the solar heat on your roof to warm your attic, this barrier will prevent that in the winter/colder months. If you run your air conditioner 7 or 8 months out of the year ,this barrier should help. March 25, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by used this product for underside of wall cabinets We bought this product for an unusual use. Daughter and son-in-law have hot water baseboard heating in home. I wanted to install 15" deep wall cabinets over the heating. We stapled the foil product to the bottom of the cabinets so the heat would not absorb into the cabinets and instead reflect back into the room. It seems to work well for our needs. On sale at Home Depot so bought some more for a future project. February 23, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Easy installation Haven't gotten to test out how well it reflects heat, but at least it is easy to put up. November 30, 2015
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Colorado Springs Packaging was poor but the product was what I expected. Vey good value as a super buy. November 3, 2015
