I used to huy batteries every year, but since I changed to rechargable, I have not had to buy new ones. First I figured out how many batteries Me and my family use and purchsed all and a few extras. That was 3 years ago and the originals are working still, perfectly. Saved about $80 -$100 upto this moment. Highly recommend.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by RR01 Better quality, long life Rechargeable
These cost a little more than the ones at the discount tool store.
They actually cost less when you figure that they will last longer and deliver more.
I recommend these over the cheaper price and lower quality ones.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by JD Do What They Are Supposed To
At the end of the day, they are batteries, but you should make sure that they will match your needs. They are a bit expensive to purchase, compared to alkalines, but I hated constantly throwing those away, and the NiMH batteries pay for themselves many times over if you have a regular use for them. These are not good emergency-type batteries, as they discharge in storage. I am kind of a nerd about tracking performance, and I have had a number of these with over 300 recharge cycles. More typical is about 230 before they won't hold a decent charge.
I have used this particular brand for many years, and have yet to find one with a short life. A few items cannot use these, as they are only 1.2 volts. Some require 1.5 volt batteries, which is the voltage of alkalines. My Brother label maker is one of them. These batteries don't appear to damage it, but its performance is unpredictable with them, and I assumed that sooner or later something would happen to the labeler if I continued with them. Most of the things I use AAs and AAAs for will use these without any problems and with normal performance.
This is somewhat off-topic, but the charger used for these is important, as they are definitely not created equal, and some are just plain lousy. I have used a number of them, and I haven't found one that will beat the Maha chargers in terms of producing the highest level of charge and getting the longest life out of the batteries. One of their newer chargers will even help you match the actual battery charge, which is helpful if you need the maximum capacity out of your batteries. When using more then one together, all of the batteries will only discharge as much as the weakest battery of the group.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by drdave Always dependable
I use the rechargeable batteries in a head light that I use every night when I walk the dogs. I walk 2 miles in about 40 -45 minutes, and the lights stay bright the whole time for 3-4 days. They are very dependable. They are easy to charge, and when I do, they are ready to go in about 30 minutes.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by JonS Good for LED headlamp
I depend on an LED headlamp for lots of tasks. Need it to be bright as possible. With regular batteries, would have to discard when half used. With rechargheables, can keep in top shape easily - just swap out two sets of 3 each. Great savings, great visibility.
