Answer:
I am leaving mine plugged in all the time. If you notice when all the lights go out it will turn on automatically. I think they will come in handy when we have loss of electric.
Thanks, Joy

Answer:
The device is always taking a trickle charge to keep if fully charged for power outage... It is using the slightest amount of power to monitor. The light is simply an indication that power is applied to the unit in an active live circuit.

The old version never did either. Plugged in should be green if needs a charge. If charged probably would not show.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from I may have given this more than 3 stars if I hadn't enjoyed years of delight with it's predecesso... I may have given this more than 3 stars if I hadn't enjoyed years of delight with it's predecessor flashlight. If you think this is the same flashlight Energizer used to offer that has a similar look... do not order until you read this. This new one is simply a plain old rechargeable flashlight you throw away when it runs out. It does conveniently recharge at the wall. It also indicates if your electricity goes off (if it is in the wall at the time of outage) If you are used to the superior flashlights that used to be offered by Energizer you may be disappointed with this cut rate model. The one's they used to offer had everything these new ones have here and more: There was the option of bright & brighter. They had internal batteries that could be replaced when worn out (good for the earth and budget). They also worked as a fabulous night lite while charging. These 3 important features (that are now missing) made it the most fabulous light on the planet! Guests loved the old ones so much I'd give them away and go buy replacements for me. Last time I gave them away, I went to the store, online and even called the company and no one will tell me how to get them anymore! Now you know what you're getting if you order this, you won't be disappointed when you open the box and see it's not what you may have been used to.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent choice The darn thing lasts for years. This light was a replacement for one that lasted 8 years. It had been charged (at least) dozens of times, accidently kicked out of the wall socket and dropped many times by "old butterfingers" (me). We use it and several more as nightlights and as standby emergency lights around the house. Here in S. Florida we'll see many periods of heavy weather in the course of the year and will occasionally lose power for various lengths of time. Good purchase and dependable.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great value, multi-purpose I wanted a rechargeable flashlight to save money and the hassle of changing batteries. I also wanted LED bulbs, again so I don't have to change burned out bulbs on a regular basis like I have to with other flashlights. The bonus features are that while it is charging, it serves as a nightlight in our bathroom and also turns itself on as an emergency light when the power goes out. Oh, and one more thing I really like: it's shaped to fit nicely in your hand, rather than a perfect round cylinder like other flashlights. AWESOME PRODUCT!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent overall design and Safety feature & functionality These lights are have multi-functional greatness. A very bright beam and comfortably fitting to your hand makes this a top notch flashlight for many types of uses, Then, with a flick of the switch, it becomes a night lite, even while it is plugged in and charging. Now the clincher! Flick the switch again, and you have the ultimate safety feature for power outages. The moment your power fails to your home, this light automatically turns itself on, which lights up the room for you to move about safely. Then you simply pull it out of the outlet, and as the light stays lit, you instantly have a much needed flashlight in your hand. Gotta love it. We have now added 1 Energizer RCL1NM2WR to every room in our house, including basement & garage.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Energized Rechargeable Flashlight hits the spot. I had owned two of these exact rechargeable flashlights previously and still have them in good working order. I had been looking for addition ones for home and my travel frailer. They make great power outage emergency lights, nightlights, and they even make an incredible long-life flashlights. I highly recommend a purchase of multiple of these lights for around anyone's home..... A very handy device, I keep all of mine plugged in and fully charged for usage, as shown in my included prize willing picture (hehehehehe).
