Customer Questions & Answers

can you get the battery back up at home depot and a cheap fire proof pad

Asked by: tiffany
The unit would require a minimum 750 watt inverter system which supplies power in “pure sine wave” to power the unit in the event of power outage this would be supplied with one or more deep cycle marine batteries. Using a 60 amp hour battery an inverter of this type would likely provide enough power for a couple hours of use, adding batteries would lengthen this time. As for floor protection, this unit requires floor protection on most combustible floor surfaces however it only needs to be rated as “ember protection” as an “R” requirement is not present.

2,000 sq. ft. Pellet Stove is rated 3.6 out of 5 by 21.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome Pellet Stove This is a awesome pellet stove. Great price and good quality. I have owned this stove for 4 years now ans still running strong. During the winter months my pellet stove runs 24/7. It is the main heat in my house due to my house heater is electric. This pellet stove has no problem keeping my house warm even when it is 10 below zero and my house is 1,500sq feet and if I turn it up to 3/4 or all the way it will heat my house way hotter than I can stand up to 90 deg F. I don't have to clean it out for two weeks and that is running it 24/7. It burns clean as long as you don't use Greentree brand pellets. It burns the Home Depot Heats brand really good. I would recommed this pellet stove.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best Purchase Ever Bought my Englander in 2011 and it has more than paid for itself.....With oil so high we use our stove all winter and cut our oil consumption in half.....We are very pleased with the unit and support we get from the company....It is easier to repair then the more expensive ones on the market....The best part is they send you a cd to show you how to repair everything....I have only replaced the starter since I have bought the stove and it was easy......

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Paid for itself 1st year. I bought this stove 2 yrs ago. It paid for itself in the 1st year!!! (I had very high heating bills for my very old house) This stove does put out sufficient heat. Don't be a fool... It is not silent!!! As with any pellet stove, it does make noise because of the blowers. However, I have it in the same room as my TV and I can hear my programs just fine. It does have a large ash pan. That was a selling point for me as I didn't want to have to empty it daily. Other stoves had a very small ash pan (about 1-2 cups capacity). Another selling point, a 3 bag pellet hopper!!! WOW! Depending you your heat setting, this can last an entire day! *I had a squeak last year when the auger would turn to feed pellets to the burn pot. I t drove me crazy! I took the whole thing apart and I couldn't find any flaws in the auger. It turned out to be a pellet that got caught between the auger and the auger tube. I figure that this could have happen with any pellet stove. It hasn't happened again since then. --- My Cleaning Schedule --- On an average setting of "6" I do have to perform a: -Light cleaning about every 3 days. (empty ash pan, brush-n-vac burn chamber and heat exchange [About 20-30min.]) -Deep cleaning once a week. (light cleaning + behind exhaust cleanout doors [About 30-45min.]) -Complete system cleaning every 5-6 months. Although you could probably wait and do this at the end of the heating season. (All the above + chimney pipe, exhaust blower, vacuum pellet dust/fines from hopper [About 1 hour.]) **( If you have a dusty house like mine... keep an eye on the room air blower. The 'squirrel cage' fins get clogged with dust and make the blower not work as well. Just use an old tooth brush to clean the fins and you will see a major improvement in air flow! ) I know this sounds like a lot of work...but these are tasks that come with buying/using a pellet stove. AND the savings of using Pellet heating vs Oil heating is worth it!!!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from A bit disappointing I really had high hopes for this pellet stove, which replaces the Whitfield I had for 17 years. I chose this one because of price and the 6 month interest free credit card. The good points are price, ease of cleaning, very nice and helpful technical assistance (though very difficult to get through), it holds 3 bags of pellets and it's not a bad looking stove. The bad points are that it doesn't put out an enormous amount of heat, it MUST be cleaned every 24 hours (it produces a large amount of ash) and the auger has a squeak that keeps coming back, even after doing what technical assistance recommended.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Try Different pellets I bought this stove last year and couldn't be happier with it. When I first got this stove I bought a few bags of (don't remember the brand) pellets and thought the stove was junk no heat lots of ash wouldn't start up properly but it was not the stove the pellets were junk. I use the pres-to-logs brand they made all the difference in the world. I suggest buying a few bags of different brands of pellets to see witch works best before giving up on the stove. for me this stove works great but probably can't go wrong with any brand of pellet stove !!!!! JUST TRY DIFFERENT PELLETS IF YOUR STOVE IS NOT WORKING PROPERLY!!!!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nice stove Live in north eastern vt. Been using stove for 3 weeks now. It's December. Been about high 20's low 30's for temperature. Haven't gone above setting 3 to maintain 72 upstairs while stove is in finished walkin basement in my 1200 sq ft home. Wanted little bigger stove for them 20 below night and days. All and all stove works good. Little louder fan than others I've seen and wouldn't want it in main living space to listen to but works well down stairs. Could have little better design to door cause ash collects at bottom of door where presses against frame of stove. But for the money can't beat it. Going to try hooking thermostat to it and see how it works. That way will turn down outomaticlly when reaches temp.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Very happy with my purchase Let me start by saying that this is my 1st and (so far) only experience with pellet stoves. After talking to a friend about his stove and doing some extensive on line and in stores that sell pellet stoves, I decided to purchase this one from Home Depot. Reasons for my purchase of this particular stove are; name brand of stove and their reputation of quality stoves, square footage of the stoves heating capacity and the size of the hopper. Of course price had a factor in my decision also. It's very simple to install, if you have average handyman skills, you can do this yourself. The one thing you'll need help with is the actual moving of the stove, its a bit over 300 lbs! After 2 or 3 weeks of trial and error with the stove and the pellets, I'm very happy with the stove and it's performance. By no means is it a "set it and forget it" type of heating system. You must keep an eye on the amount of pellets in the hopper and keep an eye on the condition of the burning area. Depending on your settings, you'll need to refill the hopper every other day or so. Also depending on the quality of pellets, you will need to shut down the stove and clean out the burning chamber. Its really not as cumbersome as it may sound. I have found that using the Stove Chow pellets from Home Depot create a good amount of saw dust in the bottom of the hopper causing me feed problems which causes the stove to shut off. My very simple fix for that was to vacuum the hopper of the saw dust and purchase a couple 5 gallon buckets along with a cheap strainer. What I do now, instead of just dumping the bag of pellets directly into the hopper is to scoop the pellets out of the bag into the sifter and sift out as much saw dust as I can. I have seen a very noticeable improvement in the stoves feed performance. Overall, I'm very happy with the stove. So far this winter I have been using it as my only heating source. I would recommend this stove to anyone looking to heat with pellets.
