Product Overview

Made from 100% recycled rubber, Envirotile has saved approximately 3 million tires from being sent to the landfill. Due to the nature of recycled materials, the tire rubber will vary from tile to tile. This variance results in each tile's naturally unique color as well as size, equaling up to 1/4 in. size difference from tile to tile. Envirotile is a floating floor system with a patented clipping system (sold separately) that provides the ease of a do-it-yourself application. These tiles can be installed on top of any existing hard surface such as wood, concrete and patio tiles. The floating floor system is an investment; it is simple to pick up your tiles and move them to another location.

  • For use on balconies, patios, rooftops, decks, child play areas and more to create a beautiful floor
  • Each tile weighs approximately 8 lbs., making it light enough to carry by hand but heavy enough to stay put in place
  • Recycled rubber tiles are noise absorbing and anti-fatigue
  • Tiles are weather and frost resistant and do not have to be removed during the winter
  • Non-skid and impact absorbing
  • Easy DIY installation using patented connector clips, see installation guide and video for step-by-step instructions
  • Size variance, rotating the tiles side by side to find the best fit will help to alleviate variance issues
  • $3.55/ sq. ft. equivalent

i have a garden area up against my house that i hate, doing pavers the way we want will be too expensive and i don't want to attempt doing pavers on my own and have to cut any. i found these and wondered if because they are in a fitted place, i.e. i don't expect they'll move when up against the house, sidewalk and driveway, if i could pound down the dirt really well put weed blocker down if these would work.

Suggestions?

installing them over dirt should not be any problem I would get the area as level as possible then I would put weed blocker and some sort of vapor blocker like tar paper then put the tiles over that. I don't believe they will move once they are down. I would spend the extra $$ for the plastic clips that are designed to keep them together and in place. Answer:
Per the manufacturer's website FAQ:
Can envirotile™ be installed on the ground, like traditional pavers?
Yes, they can. The ground should be prepared in the same way you would for traditional pavers, bricks and blocks. We recommend removing any grass and excavating 4-6". The ground should then be compacted. We suggest using 1/8"or 1/4" gravel over the ground.

Answer:
This is a hard question to answer because I don't know what 18 represents if your area is 18 in X 18 in then you need only 1, if your area is 18 ft X 18 ft then you will need 130, if your area is 18 yrd X 18 yrd then you will need 1167, if your area is 18 meters X 18 meters then you will need 1403. So until I know what 18 represents I have no Idea how many you will need to cover it.

Each case covers a 3 ft by 3 ft area,
18 / 3 = 6,
6 x 6 = 36
so you need 36 cases.

If you're asking how to install these pavers it is very simple they just sit side by side you can glue them, screw them down if you laying them over a material that will accept screws, or you can purchase the plastic clips that is designed to hold them together and in place..

Rated 4.6 out of 5 by 26 reviewers.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great pavers This is very durable product. Love the color. I wish they offered this product in the store like they did when I purchased this product several years ago. It's too bad you have to now order the product online. July 5, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Review The item was excellent, thank you ! I have purchased it before. June 7, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Excellent product! Love the product, the shipping just took so long! I actually purchased them to use as a dog run for my dog that runs the fence line, chasing the neighbors dog. They really work, and keep my yard and dog from becoming a muddy mess. January 19, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by I love this product! I wanted to perk up old concrete patio slab. Wanted to catch them on sale, but couldn't wait. Pricey at 7.99 each, but I factored in that no adhesive, tools, or installation were needed, it was a great deal. They are odorless, look great, and are secure. Covered ugly slab crack with no problem. Simply swept and cleaned the slab, then set the tiles in place. Bought a few inexpensive brick pavers to place around edging. Whole job took about an hour! Love the idea of recycling, too. Looks great--and within budget! June 3, 2012
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by A very nice and durable product These are very durable rubber tiles versatile and can be used both indoors or out doors December 8, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Perfect Kennel Floor I used these as a floor on a dog kennel. Made it very easy to keep clean and I could hose it off daily. To make it level we built a light deck the size of the kennel and cut the rubber tiles to fit. The clips work great at keeping it together and flat where Fido could not chew it! January 12, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great to cover cracks Do yourself a favor, take your time and use the clips! We loved this option instead of outdoor carpet. Took my time, used the clips and I love it. It's a little pricey after all is said and done but still very worth it. April 23, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Tile that looks great It is very durable and easy to work with. It has faded in the sun a bit but otherwise it has been great! September 15, 2015
