Product Overview

Made from 100% recycled rubber, Envirotile has saved approximately 3 million tires from being sent to the landfill. Due to the nature of recycled materials, the tire rubber will vary from tile to tile. This variance results in each tile's naturally unique color as well as size, equaling up to 1/4 in. size difference from tile to tile. Envirotile is a floating floor system with a patented clipping system (sold separately) that provides the ease of a do-it-yourself application. These tiles can be installed on top of any existing hard surface such as wood, concrete and patio tiles. The floating floor system is an investment; it is simple to pick up your tiles and move them to another location.

  • For use on balconies, patios, rooftops, decks, child play areas and more to create a beautiful floor
  • Each tile weighs approximately 8 lbs., making it light enough to carry by hand but heavy enough to stay put in place
  • Recycled rubber tiles are noise absorbing and anti-fatigue
  • Tiles are weather and frost resistant and do not have to be removed during the winter
  • Non-skid and impact absorbing
  • Easy DIY installation using patented connector clips, see installation guide and video for step-by-step instructions
  • Size variance, rotating the tiles side by side to find the best fit will help to alleviate variance issues
  • $3.55/ sq. ft. equivalent

can this be install in a garage? the garage is a concrete slab

my concern is the mildew underneath after several years.
Asked by: Geisha
This is the answer directly for the Envrotile website. Yes, they can. The ground should be prepared in the same way you would for traditional pavers, bricks and blocks. We recommend removing any grass and excavating 4-6". The ground should then be compacted. We suggest using 1/8"or 1/4" gravel over the ground.

What about putting over wood? I'm worried about mold, wood rot . It's older treated wood flooring.

Problems include: Quality control: the tiles are not all uniform in size, some, not all or even most, are off by 1/8 inch or so, and some have curves in the sides. This makes installing with nice, straight, clean lines with no gaps mid tile virtually impossible. Color fastness. The tiles turn much darker, basically dark brown, after sustained exposure to sunlight. We ordered terra cotta, and they were, when delivered., months out, brown. Suitability for installation over ground as opposed to hard surface. We installed these in a small back yard. Prepped the ground for slope, flatness and drainage, covered with 1-2 inches of pea gravel. The tiles are thin enough to follow the curvature of whatever they are installed over. And to let you feel the pea gravel that they are installed over. That does get better as the underlayment compacts down, but still not ideal. Except for the non-uniform size and curvature these would probably work much better over a hard, flat surface like concrete or wood decking. Not sure I would do this again, have to give it a few more months.

We installed these for a customer on their decking. They are absolutely great looking tiles, but have issues with swelling. We installed these over 2 wood decks and have had to go back and replace at least 30% of them. When it rains, some of these tiles swell up like a sponge. When the tiles swell up, the corners stand up and they are useless and will have to be replaced. The manufacturer definitely needs to fix their product. These tiles are not all cut the same size either. Some tiles are a 1/2" bigger on both sides than others making them very difficult to align your tile edges and create a good looking surface. If you are going to buy these tiles, you will need to buy many more than your expected square foot coverage. The manufacturer needs to fix this product.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from pooh Wish the website from 2 different locations I used (Utah and Colorado)had their act together. Both locations say this product is only available online. Happened to be at my local Home Depot and there they were! AFTER I ordered online and it was a 3 week wait for delivery. Meanwhile, it wasn't clear that one really needs the clips (after I was told via phone that an adhesive would also work). VISITING the local store and talking to human beings was a different story . Got good hints, found the product IN the store ...after my installer booked another job while we were told to wait until the product arrived by online order. Love the product , Think the store needs to figure if it's in stock or only online!!!!!

I would not recommend this to someone without any flooring/handyman experience. I believe there are easier ones than this out there that I would look into first. again, it looks fabulous, but my husband is still angry about the "clip" difficulties and way too many flaws that made it hard to match, etc. it took much longer than expected. I would love to send a picture, but don't have the right equipment. again, much improvement is needed, like the clip process. the recesses for the clips were off way too often so the tile had to be cut for them to fit.

The pavers look good and appear to be wearing well, but we've experienced two major issues: (1) color of pavers between batches doesn't match - we made three separate purchases of pavers and have three shades of red (2) the clip system doesn't work - this is a big deal. the clips are approxiately 1/8" to short and the grooves in the pavers are beveled in the wrong direction (e.g. the bevel allows the clips to easily slip out of place). I'm keeping my pavers, but I doubt I'd be able to get a refund since I bought them over the course of 6 months, but I certainly wouldn't recommend anyone else purchase them. One last minor concern, they are difficult to cut to size. I used several different methods (jigsaw, cricular saw, razor blade, etc), nothing was easy.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Expensive but worth it. Love these pavers. These rubber tires are great. Just made sure you get someone that knows how to install them. I put them on front porch. Love it. But my installer did not know how to cut them right. The store told me that they could be cut with a box cutter or heavy duty shears but that didn't work. It was super easy once a neighbor suggested a zig saw. Also the big big problems were Home Depot said online only. Then I found them in the store for less, and no shipping charges. Home depot is wrong! I paid 2.00 more plus shipping online, this was not fair. Plus the delivery man want more money to bring them to my door. Check out store first. Online did not work for me.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love and feel great! I put these on my screened in porch. Because they were surrounded by walls and frames I did not need the clips. Had to cut a few at the end, it was easy and I am not strong. Put these in from my wheelchair. Just dropped them in place, used my cane to push them in tight and voila. People go nuts over the new floor. I have no problem using my chair over them or on good days walking on them. Feel great on bare feet and my dogs seem to love laying on them. If an almost 60 yr old woman can install from a wheelchair I would think this proves an easy install if putting over a floor. ( I put over indoor laminate a previous owner had laid.) probably harder over dirt. I am doing the front porch next.
