Rated 2 out of 5 by epson powerlite hd projector I've owned this projector since October 2011 and it worked flawlessly. I finally mounted so i could get it out of the way from people and children walking around it. Since then i had a lamp break on me and i replaced that (not cheap) and now it won't play cause the red lights keep coming on lamp and temp. Should i have left it unmounted or is there a problem with my projector. Frustrating cause i have all the parts for my home theater and now this happens. Great! July 6, 2012
Rated 4 out of 5 by Satisfactory Overall we are quite satisfied with the projector. First we tested it by connecting it to the laptop to see how well it worked as a data projector and found it to be quite good. Then we connected it to our Blu-Ray player and watched a DVD movie. The picture projected on a white wall was quite crisp and the colour rendition was good. Setup in both cases was really really easy. The feature that allows one to project at an angle from the side of the room and correct the distortion with a simple slide was really appreciated. Although it was a cloudy day, there was a fair bit of ambient light shining into the room through large picture windows but this did not detract from seeing the picture clearly. When using the DVD player, we were forced to rely on the meagre 2 Watt sound coming from the single speaker of the projector, and we found that this wasn't really loud enough to fill the room very audibly. Unfortunately we could not connect speakers designed for computer use to the projector, as the audio plugs appear to be meant for a regular sound system. We are wondering whether we can just connect regular speakers directly to the projector to get a louder sound, or wheher an external amplifier would be necessary to increase the volume. Unfortunately, we do no know the answer to this. We may also have to purchase regular speakers and possibley an amp, so we weren't equiipped to just try it to find the answer to that important question We assume the manual contains such information, but the CD-ROM that came with the projector only allowed us to register the product, but we were unable to load the manual on our Windows 7 desktop computer. We may have to call Epson to get technical help before we invest in speakers. Nevertheless, given the price we paid, we feel we got our money's worth. February 24, 2013
