I studied all the products on the market and decided that this was the best offered. I installed easy, works perfect. The noise at low level doesn't bother at all. Since the two weeks I started using the humidifier, my breathing improved a lot.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by MrLee Good console humidifier replacement for Kenmore.
Previously, had a Kenmore console humidifier (like 4'x3') which lasted over 10 years: the motor finally gave up, and the filters which were freestanding failed too quickly.
This new Essick has these attributes, which I found important:
+ front bucket fillable, as I like to use a bucket to fill it quickly, and 6gal capacity, lasts over 24hrs (on low).
+ filter is inserted into external plastic frame, which is better than freestanding or internal frame filter.
+ external humidity sensor (attached to plug wire)
+ acceptable fan level on low.
+ smaller/convenient size
+ white color, not yellowed plastic as in picture
- humidity sensor reads high, compared to own humidistat.
- overfill hole, allows water to leak out if too much water: should be tube attachment to allow a catch-can; so be careful not to accidental overfill.
- can only disassemble (i.e. replace filter) when empty, because empty-float pole is difficult to fit when full; when filter stops wicking, this will force you to empty (and suppose time to clean it).

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Marc Does the job!
Product was shipped and received in a timely manner. I wanted a humidifier that was simple to fill- no water jugs to fuss with and high capacity. This unit is the simplest to fill by removing the front cover and fill with 6 gallons from a bucket. Took about a day for the house to hit desired humidity and has been holding true since. Keep it on low setting and barely hear it... high is definitely louder but not needed.

This humidifier is very cheep and has a terrible setting unit. I had to call customer service to get it running. I had to bend the connection lever over a half inch to make it reach the float. The direction booklet leaves much to be desired which the service lady agreed with. It does not shut off when empty and does not flash "F" to fill. If I didn't need it so much I would have returned it immediately. So now I do all its non working functions myself.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by michael good product
good product, works on 1000 sq ft apartment very well. filters are not of real good quality will not last a full season, a little pricey but works better than most, very quiet on low fan setting, located in hallway next to furnace intake and keeps whole apartment with the same humidity on low setting, very easy to service just a box that the fan sits in with the filter/wick in the box, will run down to less than a gallon before auto shutoff.then just take to the tub and clean with a rag or brush. have to be careful to get the fan/top part lined up with the bottom as the tank tends to flex.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by JoeReviewer Works great, if you can get one that isn't already broken in the box
Honestly, the first one we bought has been excellent. The best part is being able to fill the unit from the top with a bucket. Having had other humidifiers that had bottles to fill, I don't understand why they all aren't this quick & easy. Yes, the fan only has two speeds. Yes, it's loud on high, but no worse than having any other fan move that much air. Yes, the humidity is reading about 10% high, so we simply set it higher. But it is doing a great job at getting humidity into our air and we have had zero problems with it. The problem is, we need a second one for our house and liked this one so much we decided to get another ...
So we ordered another. The base was cracked on the bottom and the hygrometer was smashed. (The box itself was not damaged at all, so this wasn't a delivery problem.)
So we returned that one and ordered another. Also broken in multiple places including the hygrometer.
We're done. We'll appreciate the one we have but look for something different to augment it.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Beachboy Very pleased!
Easy to set up and use... Truly provides comfort for a large area. Water lasts about a day or two before it needs refilling. But it's a convenient refill that can be done with a bucket or a watering can. Also extremely quiet in it's operation.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by MarkWatney Excellent humidifier at a reasonable price
I have purchased humidifiers in the past and this is the best performing and most convenient (large capacity) one so far. I really like the 6 gallon capacity that allows for less frequent refills. The humidity sensor cover was broken in shipping, but the sensor (small device on the power cord) seems to work just fine. I use a different (I think more accurate) monitoring device in the space where I run this humidifier and the two don't seem to agree on what the level is, but this isn't a problem. My "good" monitor actually reads somewhat higher levels than the sensor that is on the power cord, so I just reduce the level setting on the humidifier until I reach the desired level on the other monitor and this unit will maintain that level. All in all I really like this unit. You must be careful when placing the top onto the tank. There is a water level probe that sticks up out of the tank and touches the cutoff switch in the top. It is possible to not have the top properly aligned and then the switch won't work properly, but once I learned how to carefully place the top onto the tank I never had that issue again.
