I won 28,22,2×16,&12 oz hammers and have for over 30 years. I even have the 64 oz mini sledge and yes they are more expensive than others but you get what you pay for. like most of you out there I work for a living and don't like wasting money buying junk. So if you want a top of the line hammer you can't go wrong buying Eastwing products.

Bought this hammer to ensure I could knock a few projects out without fear of it breaking (like my old wooden handled hammer). Works like a charm and has exceeded my expectations.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by fullgoosebozo Estwings are the only way to go!
I bought this as a first hammer for my son since he wanted to help his dad work on our basement.
Estwing hammers are phenomenal. I still have my first hammer -- an Estwing that was given to be as a Christmas present in 1983. It has been used TONS and is still reliable. They are sturdy, comfortable, MADE IN THE USA, and are a good value.
I know people flinch when they see 'excellent' ratings across the board -- I do -- but I cannot speak highly enough about Estwing hammers, and this 12oz. version is no different. My son loves it!

Purchased the same model Estwing hammer for our grandson that this grandfather has used for MANY YEARS! The quality of product is made to last for generations; I did not pass down the one used for all our married years, because it is still in use here....besides, our son might want to be the one to get it next!! You just can't go wrong with an Estwing!! Thanks, Home Depot for carrying this outstanding brand.

Its a bit pricy for a first hammer, but a good hammer will last a lifetime. I still have my first hammer I got when I was 5. Boys are 6 and 7 - wanted a 12 oz and wanted a steel handle (so the misses don't end up destroying the handle). Estwing was the only one I could find that matched those requirements. And the brand recognition has already commanded oohs and aahs when showing them to their dad's friends.

When I first entered the trades, I purchased an Estwing Hammer; today i have no regrets and still have the same hammer and the near three decades of memories that go with it. I have used this 12oz. claw hammer recently on a project because i could not locate my old one. . . . . No matter . . . . one more good tool for the kids to inherit.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Shoryu Good. Solid. Hammer.
I've had this hammer for a few months now and it has lived up to everything I've put it through. I mostly build small woodcraft projects but I have also used it to secure doors and drive roofing brads and it performed perfectly.
The weight of the hammer is good for all around use making it vesitile and easy to use for whatever task you are working on.
The only thing I started to notice is that the protective solution around the metal on the hammer started to degrade after just 30 mins of use. But I'm sure it's purely cosmetic.
