I have used mine for over 30 years on building the best custom homes in the North Central Indiana area. Well balanced drives a 16 penny nail in one stroke. My milled head is smooth from all the years of work but it still goes strong. I'm buying one for my son thought I'd start him out right.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by stackers my first hammer and a good one at that
the first hammer if ever bought. im only 13 . in the past i have all ways used my dads hammers. one day i noticed i had picking up the same hammer for a while. i looked at it and it was an estwing. so i asked my dad and he sayed for a kid my size to get a 22 oz. and for all the framing i do i should get a checkerd (milled) face so i can still drive the nail if im at an angle. now to the actule hammer its not to heavy and i can swing it all day and not get tired. i have had it for a while and it has held up its bin droped from 3 stories up on concret. its bin run over by the excavator and its still strait. so i think il keep bying this brand untill i dye

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by HandymanB One of my favorites
This is one of my favorite hammers for driving nails over 2in. in length. The grip takes a little getting used to but feels very nice after driving several nails. The only thing that i dislike about it is that it does not have a magnetic nail setter as some of the other models do. I used this for framing a small shop building and building fence panels.

I was lucky enough to work with an excellent carpenter building a pavilion recently and was using this hammer. We were doing some framing, and then moved on to roofing. It has been the only hammer that I could reliably drive nails with, and I actually preferred this over a nail gun that I could have used! I realized that If I wanted to do anything with carpentry then I need an estwing. So I bought one and have loved it! Great for driving any type of nail from roofing to a 4 inch framing nail, and not tiring to swing. But it still carries plenty of heft! I love this hammer and have no doubt it will serve me for a long long time.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Joel Quality Made in the USA
This hammer is excellently balanced to make the most out of every swing. It's durable with a one-piece metal shaft and a solid shaped handle. The 22oz mill / waffle-faced hammer is the best at hammering in nails or pulling things apart. It works best alone because the patterning on the hammer's face will destroy other tools (e.g. a crow bar). To make up for it, the patterning prevents nail slip & helps make every swing count. Buy a smooth-faced hammer if you need tools to work together. It's a 22oz framing hammer in contrast to a standard 16oz "around the house" hammer. It doesn't feel heavy or unsteady in hand. The Estwing is surprisingly nimble for its size. This hammer doesn't have any silly nail holding magnets or whatever. It hammers. It pulls. It does both very well. Oh, and it's made in the USA. Stop reading and go get one..

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by HomeImprovementDude Not sure what all the Hype was about?
I have the Estwing 22oz in smooth and waffle face because the reviews were so good. But I have to say.....I'm not sure what all the hype is about. They are high quality hammers........I will say that. But, the waffle texture wore off kind of quick, the grip becomes pretty slick in a short period, and I certainly do not see any vibration dampening at all, and the grip is way too skinny. I would go so far as to say they are "good" hammers, but nothing special. I went back to my Stanley AntiVibes with the black grips which are MUCH more comfortable, and vibration is virtually eliminated.......I can swing them all day.
