What is the weight of the axe head

What is the weight of the axe head
Asked by: Curious
Well, the weight of it is roughly 3 pounds total. Most of that weight is the head and frankly, that's not very heavy Because it is an axe. Mine also came with a leather sheath.

Is this one piece of steel all the way through?

I cant find this information anywhere. The description indicates that it is not entirely steel and part of the handle is hollow, but i'm not sure. Thanks for any info.
Asked by: John
You know, there is a youtuber named wranglestar that did a comparison of this axe with a swedich made unit and a $260 similar sized axe. He does not like the estwing, and he tested all three the same way. The estwing cut deep enoigh, but because the blade edge is so far extended from the swell at the handle, it does not chip wood out as well. He also said the handle area is fiber glass. I have one and have used it for a couple of years on wilderness backpacking adventures, and I like it. I also put a lanyard through the hole at the bottom of the handle, and there is definately steel around that hole on the inside. But it looks like it is steel plate, not an oval steel core. So it does look like the steel shaft runs all the way end to end. I use mine a lot. It swings lightening fast, so although it is light, it cuts good enough for camping. Eight inch timber is about as thich as I want to chop with it. It sharpens easily and holds its edge pretty well. I like it. Huskvarna has a nice axe on amazon for about $60, and it has a wood handle and a swedish forged head.

26 in. Camper's Nylon-Vinyl Grip Handle Axe is rated 4.6 out of 5 by 77.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Campers axe I have had estwing hammers last for years and still use them. This axe has not disappointed to date. So far it has held a great edge. It will chop and cut like any high quality axe. Even tho it is light and shorter than a normal broad axe, it will still swing with lots of power. Its a great buy.

Axe blade cracked after a couple hours of use splitting logs. Made in the USA used to mean something, but with this kind of quality might as well buy an axe made out of chinese pot metal for half the price.
