Customer Questions & Answers

What type of tape should be used to wrap this?

Asked by: Rick
You can use TAP18230 to wrap this. However, we recommend using Model # AAD520002B insulation adhesive to adhere all seams and joints. This is available online, through Special Order, and in the store.

Why is it necessary to seal the seam? Can't it be left on the pipe without any tape or adhesive on the seam?

Asked by: Ken
For a proper installation, all seams and joints must be sealed. This helps to prevent any moisture intrusion into the system from humidity and/or outside water sources that could lead to condensation and potentially mold problems. It is important to have the insulation sealed for optimum insulation performance.

Is this safe to use over PEX water lines?

I'm planning installing this over 1/2 PEX water lines that are running in my attic to help prevent freezing. There appears to be a seam in foam, I'm assuming it pulls apart allowing easy fit over pipe. Does this reseal afterwards?
Asked by: Sparechg
This is safe to use over PEX pipe. You will need to reseal the longitudinal seam as well as all adjoining pieces. You can use item HST05812 or ORS05812 which have a self adhesive liner on the longitudinal seam. You may also use AAD520002B Insulation Adhesive to seal the joints.
