Questions & Answers

This is lead free correct?

Asked by: LB
TL;DR: Something in this product has a small amount of lead in it on a wetted surface which will touch your drinking water. Actually, it is confusing. The sticker on the copper pipe reads that it contains less than 0.25% of lead on wetted surfaces. A copper pipe containing lead? That was banned years ago. Although the sticker is stuck to the copper pipe, I think the sticker is referring to the brass fittings, but the jury is still out. This is due to the fact that brass fitting manufactures are supposed to be trying to phase out lead and they are still allowed to have up to 0.25% of lead on wetted surfaces due to some manufacturing process. At any rate, I am confused if the copper pipe has 0.25% of lead in it which supposedly worse than having a full lead pipe due to the corrosion of the two elements being joined. No lead content is safe so I will be taking it back and I will not be getting PXE plastic pipe as they have their own chemical issues. Back to researching for a safe healthy option.

Low rating because this piercing type valve has VERY LOW FLOW. My icemaker was not working correctly (only partially filling the freeze tray and not producing much ice), and it was driving me nuts. I changed the water solenoid on the refrigerator with no improvement - this is when I started to question the flow from this valve. I disconnected the 1/4" tubing from the refrigerator and ran the water from this kit to evaluate flow....it was barely flowing any water. This valve makes a hole in your pipe that's about 0.040" diameter which allows very little water to flow. I removed this kit's valve and replaced with a SharkBite Compression Service Stop Tee Model#24983A and the problem was immediately solved. Bottom line, don't buy this kit.

The fitting are horrible, leaks easily theres no way of stopping the water once you pierce through the copper piping. Wouldn't use it, I went with a single valve that had a output for the faucet connection and water supply line. Way Better

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Warning you will have leaks Compression nuts don't work which caused leaks had to go back to HD at 9:45 pm to buy different ones. Better off buying everything seperatedly and don't waste your time.

The copper is fine, but as the other review stated, the couplings are horrible. I had to purchase another $4 worth of compression rings and nuts for this to make it seal correctly knowing that the manufacturer's supplied hardware is junk.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Water supply line The compression fittings in this kit are junk Ended up getting new fittings with the sleeve that's separate of the nut and they worked fine so it was not my assembly error! Better off with buying tubing and compression fittings separate, the t- fitting that punctures the copper pipe is junk too, water flow is slow and they are prone to failure

The valve is just quality enough to work but I don't really trust it. It is flimsy at best. The compression nuts come with pre-assembled sleeves and are complete garbage. Just throw them away and save an hour of your life trying to get them to stop leaking.
