Customer Questions & Answers

What size closet rod should I use with these sockets

Asked by: Kat
ANY length (up to 8' ft) of 1.25" in dowel rod. Pine or oak.

Can I use these as inside mounts for a curtain rod?

Asked by: AQ
Absolutely! I have never seen that done before but I certainly can't see why not. Make sure there is a stud in the wall directly behind the bracket. It will be important that you at least drive one of the screws into a stud. You will have to use longer screws than the ones provided in the package. For the other holes in the bracket that do not line up with a stud, I recommend plastic self-drilling drywall anchors and screws. Since you wont be using the color matching screws that came in the package, I recommend coloring the heads of the new screws with a sharpie marker in a similar color.

What is the weight capacity of these.

Asked by: ed
Actually, I'm not sure. But I can tell you *these brackets* (using 1.25" in dowel rod) will hold more clothes than you have. They are VERY robust.

Does the rod snap into the open-lip socket?

After you slide the rod into the closed-lip socket, does the rod snap into place in the open-lip socket? Or does it just rest on the bottom of the lip so that it could easily be pulled out? Also, is there a hole drilled for a screw in either socket to screw into the closet rod? Thanks.
Asked by: Bricago
It does not 'snap' per se, it simply LAYS in the open-end 'cradle'. Hope this helps :)

I updated my entry coat closet with double decker rods in order to hang more coats. These worked well and look good. Please note that the hole spacing on each of the flanges exceed the thickness of a wall stud so probably not meant to fasten directly over drywall and into a wall stud. I think most closets probably have a 1" x 6" ( or wider) board fastened to opposing walls in which these are meant to be fastened. They are heavy duty brackets.

Pilot holes were a bit of a challenge due to the fact that I left the pole in place with clothes hanging on it. But it will hold up a lot longer than the wooden pole itself.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Curtain rod holder I was disappointed that one side didn't fit the extending curtain rod that we used so I will have to do one myself maybe from wood? The product is otherwise made of good quality metal.
