Answer:
This unit is Single Phase, households do not have 3 phase service. You run 2 wire with ground from panel box to pump control ( pressure switch ), then you run 3 wires ( usually black , white and red ) from control to the pump, all the way down in the well.

Answer:
Wire gauge depends on the length of wire from your control box to the pump. 10AWG is good for up to 592 ft. 12AWG will work for up to 371 ft. This is based on copper wire.

Rated 5.0 out of 5 by 3 reviewers.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Heavy Duty design at a fair price. This is a very heavy duty pump. I live in a mountainous area, so wells are typically dug very deep. Because of that, you have to have a pump powerful enough to pump water from deep in the earth and into your home. This pump is that pump. Not only is it powerful, but also durable, high quality, and well built. You can find pu,ps slightly cheaper, but they don't pump as deep or powerful as this one. And remember, you get what you pay for, so if you're looking for cheap, you will more than likely get a product that doesn't work well or is made cheap. For the price, this pump can't be competed with. And it has a warranty in the event that an issue does arise. May 9, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great replacement pump This is a great value for good quality pump if you go the route to replace it yourself. A submersible pump as such at the bottom of a 250' hole is no easy task if you do not have the help or resources to efficiently pull it, replace it, and connect the electrical connection properly. If you have access to a pump puller rig with a hose reel that would be ideal however, in my case, we had a shallow well with about 75' of hose and the biggest challenge was dislodging the slip connection on the casing with an 8' long threaded puller rod. Once we dislodged the connection and started pulling, we took turns and created a large collection of loops of the hose on the ground until we got to the pump. Take note: this is an IDEAL time to inspect the hose and wire before dropping it back down. Installation is exactly reverse as removal and critical to be good solid, proper connections and then it is time to drop it back down with help (it gets heavy after a while holding onto wet hose) and make a good solid connection at the slip joint but here is a little tip should you need to go back to service it...petroleum jelly...a super thin smear on the mating surface will help prevent corrosion making it difficult to dislodge for future service. To say it was an easy install would be misleading as anyone whom has done this or does it for a living will tell you it is easy if you have the proper equipment and knowledge and not so much a easy DIY thing to do. If you can save money buying the pump yourself and save from the plumber mark-up, this is a good option. All else is good...pump runs fantastic. June 6, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Easy Install - Relatively Speaking First off, looking over the new pump shows it's made out of lots of stainless steel. Everything about this pump looks very nice. All the edges were smoothed out and finished nicely. By the weight of the pump the internals must be mostly metal. The external wires are silicone covered so they should last much longer than the standard PVC covered wiring. The pump comes in a heavy cardboard box with a even heavier cardboard tube. This pump went into an existing 100' household well. We needed to pull new wiring to the well head since this was an old 3/4 HP jet type pump. We installed the correct size of wiring shown in the install guide. Since this was replacing a jet pump you will need a control box and other items for this pump install, these are separate purchases. Once the pump was installed and wired we tested the pumps free flow. Within seconds we had water, lots of water. Since this was a shallow well install the pump produced over 12 GPM in the free flow test and it ran very quiet. This was a huge step up from the old jet pump and it will never need priming. This install may be more than a home owner would want to take on, if you are replacing an existing submersible pump most of the items needed may already be installed in the well. Buying the pump at Home Depot and having it installed by a professional pump service will most likely save you some real money over buying from them. Great looking and operating pump. March 27, 2016
