Product Overview

This expansion nut, or well nut, is comprised of 2 parts: a rubber outer sleeve with a flange that serves as a plug, and a brass insert. The plug is placed into the hole and a bolt is inserted. Upon tightening the bolt, the end of the rubber backs up toward the flange, expands, and anchors itself within the hole. They are good for applications where light sealing and vibration dampening are needed.

Customer Questions & Answers

How do I install these on a door mounted side mirror or actually just how to use these ?

How do I install these on a door mounted side mirror or actually just how to use these ?
Asked by: stairmaster
Hi stairmaster, I have used these to reconnect a factory mounted roof rack after I drove into the garage with two bikes on top! How embarrassing! I used a plastic hammer to flatten the roof metal and then drilled the metal to match the diameter of the shank of this Expansion Nut. I dropped in the anchor and screwed it tight with a screw driver. For your rear view mirror, you might have to drill the existing holes to accommodate the Expansion Nut. This Expansion Nut will accept a screw into it to anchor your mirror. Thank you for asking, -Travis

Asked by: Joe
Hi Joe! Using the search bar on the site, you can find the product you are interested in and bring up the Product Information Page. Product Availability is shown at the top right of the Product Information page in the gray box where the Add to Cart or Add to List button is displayed. If the product is available to be purchased online for shipment directly to you, the Ship to Home option will display. If the product is available to be purchased online, shipped to your local store and picked up there, the Ship to Store option will display. If the product is available to be purchased online from current store inventory and picked up there, the Pick Up In-Store option will display. If the product can only be purchased by going to a store and buying it there, the message Item Must Be Purchased In-Store will display. We do our best to update store pricing and inventory amounts as they change. However, there may be slight difference in store pricing or inventory compared to what is listed online so do we recommend calling your desired Home Depot store to confirm availability. Should you have further questions about using the filters to aid you in your search for the product, please contact the Home Depot Customer Care at 1-800-430-3376
