I want a fail proof way to use the pump to drain a dehumidifiier under my crawl space?

I have the condensate pump remove the water from a dehumidifier under my house (in a totally encapsulated crawl space). If the pump were to fail some day, my crawl space will be flooded. Is there a way to set this up to get the dehumidifier to shut down if the pump fails? Is there another way to set this up?
Asked by: steve
To do what you want, you would need a way to connect the safety switch output to some sort of dry contact device that would then turn off the AC outlet to which the dehumidifier is attached. Not too hard to do - check DIY sites on Home Automation

Move the access hole plug to unplug whichever hole is best for your drain tube, pipe etc. Then connect the Exit Tubing to pump outside or the nearest building drain. Didn't come with tubing, but if you have to buy it separately it isn't kinked form being stuffed in the box with the pump.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Does't last I have now bought 4 of these cheap pumps - with a one year warranty. It seems that when the warranty expires so does the pump. I'm searching now for a better replacement. I have 16 year old pumps running in my car - why not a simple pump that only runs occasionally. At least this one shows you that it has failed. But replacing pumps (I have three) every year gets real expensive real fast. I highly recommend finding something better, especially if a failure could result in water damage which will cost far more than this cheapo pump.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Worked with dehumidifier We use this pump seasonally with our dehumidifier. It was easy to set up. We don't spend time in the area where it's placed but it's quiet enough anyway. It moves the water up and out without any issue. It's been reliable and we haven't had any leaks. The dehumidifier may be having problems now. If I can find some sort of all-in-one to replace, I'll probably do that to avoid having a secondary device.
