My first time taking on installing garage door springs so I thought it might be a good idea to take pictures of the original configuration. Removed the old spring, pulleys & cables laid them on the garage floor so I could refer to them while installing the new set. Springs came with Safety Cable which is about 8', so also bought the 12' extension cables as well as new pulleys. Removal took about 5 minutes and installation of the new set took less than 20 mins., per side. I also purchased some small cable clamps to tie up the loose ends of each cable once I had strung the cable to the garage door rail. All in all I saved about $140 per door, based on quotes I got from professional installers. Quite pleased with myself.

Way to go again Home Depot. You stopped carrying the higher quality Holmes-Hally brand in stores to cut corners and make a profit and carried your store specific Everbilt brand based on cutting corners. Unlike the brand Depot used to stock, which had a high gauge steel loop and the end of each spring that was built into the safety mechanism, these corner cutting cheap as can be springs have the end 2 rings bent out of the actual spring so the only part that is holding the tension of the door when closed is the thing caliber steel. Never mind the fact that they don't even come with the proper hardware anymore when replacing your old springs on your one-piece doors (I spy another corner to cut and save money and rip off the consumer). I wish they knew how much business they are losing due to corner cuts on this. My timelines for all of the work have been altered steadily over the last year to account for the fact that I will be ordering more of our supplies online from reputable retailers stocking quality products and far less time spent hassling traveling from one Home Depot to the next thanks to poor stocking and this kind of shoddy salesmanship.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Dominicus777 Great springs...cables too short.
For under $20 you cannot complain. The springs are great as expected. The cables...too short which caused the single car garage door to not close by 2 feet. Spend the $9 and buy the 2 pack of 12ft cables to replace the cables that this comes with. Myself, I spent $50 to buy 4 pulleys, the spring kit, and a 2pack of 12ft cables. Door works like new considering its a 20+ year automatic door system.

Installation of the new springs and safety cables was very easy. The springs worked so well that no adjustment of the cables was required to complete the installation.
On the down side, the Home Depot website said that there were 5 on the shelf, but when I arrived at the store there was only one on the shelf. The one that was left looked like it had been through a war, but all of the items appeared to be in the box. Later the website said there still were four available.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Eric Great so far, good stock
Great replacement extension springs for the older types of garage doors that don't use torsion springs. Home Depot had a great selection of springs in stock. Installation is a breeze. Matched the old one with color coding.

I bought this to replace an old spring system from the 50's that was original with the house with wood doors. The spring is easy to put up but the cable had to be hooked on the door. The old style hook had to be taken off the door and the door had to be taken out of the railing. I ended up putting a new bracket on to make it easier. The cable was too short that came with the set. I had to buy the longer cable set separate. It took me 2 hours to put it in and I have no experience and I did it alone. The most time was spent on figuring out how to hook the cable onto the door and disassemble the railing. I had help from Youtube as well. I would give it 5 stars if the cable would be longer.

Seem to be a good quality product and easy to install just be sure and get cables for door lift because only the safety cables come with the springs.
