CUSTOMER REVIEWS

Rated 2.5 out of 5 by 4 reviewers.
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Sturdier Than I Thought We had some cam connectors from our hamper crumble while tightening them so we needed some new ones so the hamper wouldn't fall apart. The ones I ordered seemed a lot sturdier than the cam connectors you usually get with furniture you have to assemble yourself. The only reason I gave it four stars is because they are designed a bit differently than the ones you get in a kit and they don't grab the cam screw as easily. Took a few tries to get it right. But now that they're in, they're not going to loosen, which is a significant improvement over the default ones. May 20, 2014
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by HOME DEPOT isn't quality-controlling this product's packaging Bought this product from Home Depot a few years ago and found them very handy when building custom furniture for a home makeover -- combined with glued dowels, they make terrific joints when one doesn't have the time/patience/skill to execute quality woodworking joints (chiselling all those joints would have taken FOREVER). I used a FORSTNER DRILL BIT to drill the relatively flat-bottomed holes for the locking cam and all worked really well. PROBLEM: HOME DEPOT must have another company in China manufacture these under the EVERBILT brand these days. The INSTRUCTIONS (specs for where the holes should be drilled and what dimensions they should be..) used to be decent and provided the required information. NOW - a nightmare: on two pieces of componentry (screw and cam lock) which are used as a SET -- on ONE package the dimensions are given in metric and on the other in Imperial (inches). The specs on the CAM LOCK packaging are particularly ridiculous and obviously no one at Home Depot who reads looked at this packaging when it came to them for approval. The specs on the cam SCREW make no reference to any measurement of where the hole should be drilled in respect to distance from the edge of the piece being worked. Additionally, I think the spec for drilling a 21mm deep hole for the cam is actually completely INCORRECT --- why would a 21mm hole be drilled when the cam itself isn't that deep.. and as there's no spec for placement of the screw, 21mm seems like either an arbitrary measurement or incorrect conversion/information someone in China has incorrectly printed. Also: there are no specs or measurements to be found online. November 30, 2014
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by CATCH 22 for Cam Connectors These cam connectors are very handy and used frequenctly in low-end, snap together furniture. However, for the do-it-yourselfer they are useless. Here's why. The connector only comes in one size, 15mm, and require a hole that is exactly 15mm. Standard size drill bits won't work. If the hole is slightly too big the connection is too loose. If the hole is slightly too small they wont fit. So, just buy a 15mm drill bit. just try! Nobody carries metric drill bits (even the places that sell the metric cams) and ordering the one drill bit online costs around $25. This destroys any reasonable budget for a simple project. Unless you've got the right bit these cam connectors are useless. Home depot should either sell them in standard size or sell the right drill bit. December 26, 2011
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Does what it is supposed to If you cannot find a 15mm bit, a simple search will show it equates to 19/32 which is available. The hole does not have to be exactly fitting for it to work. This device, while not my first choice in furniture hardware, is simple to use if you want to hide a joint. It's perfect for securing a table/bureau top, but not for suspending weight. May 25, 2013
