Answer:
no spacer is needed between the wall and pegboard panel - this is a great feature as I have installed traditional pegboard too and had to install 1x2's first. This panel attaches directly to the wall.

Answer:
No a spacer is not needed, but the person who designed these obviously has no idea how homes are constructed. Studs are on 16" centers, but the mounting holes on these are 15" apart. Why on earth would someone design something this way. I bought ten of these thinking that the mounting holes would be 16" apart. Just stupid. I will be taking them back tomorrow.

Answer:
Yes. No spacer is needed. I have mine screwed DIRECTLY to the wall and all the accessories have enough room behind the board to slip right in.

Answer:
My only worry would be that the dark plastic color would fade over time in the sun. Also, if stainless steel mounting hardware is not used, you will deal with rusting if it gets wet.

Customer Reviews

Rated 4.0 out of 5 by 67 reviewers.
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Price is fair. Easy to install! I purchased 8 of these for use with my tools. I'm a handyman and work on cars. I have multiple torque wrenches, hammers, screw drivers, etc. I had a previously used the pressed fiber board style in my previous home and wanted something a bit sturdier. These are held on by 5 screw points and holds on to the neighboring board by the 4 side holes. I used pan head screws and nuts to hold them together and anchors to tie into the sheet rock in my garage. After installation, I put on my tools and immediately noticed the plastic warping. I guess these pegboards are for very light use only and for tools that will be right up against the plastic surface. Don't use hangers that have the 2 long pegs on it or multiple hammers or heavy items. If you plan on using a single hammer hanger then it will work fine. Light screw drivers, paint brushes, etc will work okay. Since I needed a pegboard system that would support heavier tools, I pulled and returned them. October 24, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Good for home use Greatforhome garage/Hobbyarea but wouldn't use for professional use. Over all happy with theproduct will buy more in future October 1, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Solid Pegboard This product is pretty basic but is easy to use and hang. The boards interlock by using some #8 3/4 " bolts and nylock nuts. They are very sturdy and will hold some pretty impressively heavy tools that are probably laying around your work bench. Buy these if you're looking for peg boards September 14, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by pleasantly surprised Much nicer than it appears online. Thick and substantial. easy to attach. Note - when you go into the store, they will tell you that they don't carry them and they have never seen them. Insist that they look them up online - they are in the garage accessories section, not the building department. August 14, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Nice addition to organize my shed Lined one wall in my shed two pegboard's high and 8 feet with this stuff. It locks together nicely and is easy to install. I bought shelf brackets for pegboard and added a nice shelf and several baskets. With a bucket full of pegboard hooks I was able to organize my tools nicely. Very sturdy plastic and fastening holes line up perfectly with a 16" on center wall. I highly recommend these panels for the organizer. July 26, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Good product, great price. I was needing peg board for a shop extension, but really did not want the old standard glued sawdust with holes. I priced the metal but with no need for something that heavy duty. This fit the requirements, and the price was reasonable. Easy to mount ( I have 2 mounted on plywood, one on angle iron and another on solid wood boards) and can be arranged to fit what you need. July 11, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Ever built 16x16 pegboard This product worked just like it said it would. Very satisfied July 26, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Strong, sturday, and great looking This pegboard is a great alternative to the flimsy white board that you can buy. These are already finished, look great, and are extremely sturdy. They come with a standoff already built in so installation is easy, and the interlock-ability makes expansion really easy. My biggest complaint is that there is not enough space on the top edge due to a lip which disallows hooks from laying flat. This means that the entire top row of holes is useless (at least for the hooks that I purchased). Also - you will need to provide your own installation hardware. I had molly bolts and screws laying around so it wasn't a big deal, but it is something to keep in mind. August 28, 2014
