This question is in relation to the "How can I find out how heavy my garage door is?" question that was posted on Sept. 18, 2014. The answer posted to this question says they would be strong enough for a 286lb door. Is this true? Everything else I read says that extension spring lb ratings are total per pair of springs. So basically my question is, will 2 springs lift 160lbs or 320lbs?

Rated 3.9 out of 5 by 7 reviewers.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Product does the job, however.... The replacement springs at each end has a closed loop which does not provide a method of connecting it to your end frame support without the use of a chain connector link. Of course, you only come to this realization once you're home so its an extra trip to home depot. . (Note that the previous manufacture that supplied home depot included the chain connector with the springs. The springs I replaced were a half round open end so it was not needed. April 20, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Does what it's intended to do, and does it well! I have an old small/garage/tool shed where one of the existing springs disintegrated. My first inclination was to buy a more modern door and lifter set but my handy father in law talked me into looking for a new extension spring set, which I found at homedepot.com. I used the store pickup option and on my way home from work the next day, I picked it up. Installation was very easy, the hardest part was resetting the braces that were ripped out when the original spring broke. Now the door operates MUCH more smoothly. The variable pin placement allows you to adjust the tension on the springs, so don't forget to adjust that when replacing. August 21, 2013
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Manufacturer Cutting Corners The wire that comes with it is 7'11". They skimped SO MUCH that unless your door is perfectly 7' and lined up JUST RIGHT, this wire won't work. Trust me. I tried everything. I have a 7' garage door. IT DOES NOT WORK. WHY!?!?!? Why not just include another foot of wire??? Would 9' kill you? Terrible execution. Terrible manufacturer. Terrible product. May 19, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Strong product ! These springs seem so much stronger than the ones that were installed originally. Also, the end connector is not just a hook, but a fully round connection giving it much more stability/holding power. Also, this package includes the "safety" wires as well making this a great product at a very reasonable price ! I highly recommend this product. Lastly, I used the online buying option with store-pick-up and that approach went very smooth. May 6, 2014
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Description online is not good as this works only for 7' garage doors and not for 8' garage doors. I would not recommend it to someone who has 8' garage door. This product works for 7' garage doors and not for 8' garage door. I installed it only to find that the springs stop when the garage door is about a foot above the ground for 8' garage door. Online specifications sheet also does not identify this. Hence, the review. Product may be great but if its application is not clearly identified, it's useless. April 28, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by great price These should work for a standard size 7'garage fine as the extension length with pulleys is cut in half + the actual length- they are 25". So 67" max working stretch-25"=42"x2=84" which is 7'. Since spring configurations can vary, I understand why they don't write 7'. June 12, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Does what it is supposed to do This product installed easily and appears to be good quality. March 25, 2014
