I want to use this 24 inch plastic pan to hold my submersible water pump in the verticle position--in potable water tank.

Will be using this water for drinking. Is there any material in this polypropylene plastic pan that is harmful to humans--as we will be using the water for drinking.
Asked by: jrwcw
Depending on the water pump type, the drip pan will collect the water drips. Check water volume clooected frequently to ensure it does not overflow. If possible you might consider connecting the pan to a hose to drain excess water to floor drain or to the exterior.

In the description of this water heater drain pan, it states "This Pan is for use with electric water heaters only." Why does it state this? The installer obtained through Home Depot placed the pan under our new gas water heater?
Asked by: cb
Just a guess.....gas water heaters have a fire burning at the very bottom, I doubt this could handle that type of heat

Had a slow leak from my new pressure tank that was causing the floor in the pump house to get wet. I had the installer return to fix the coupling leak and placed this under the pressure tank at that time so I could monitor any future leaks. Works great - I can see that there are no leaks anymore, and will be able to see right away if any develop. Seems sturdy, as we accidentally placed the edge of the pressure tank on the rim of the pan when we were trying to stand the tank up and the pan just flipped up and did not deform or break. I placed gorilla tape over the drain hole because I didn't want to connect it to a drain as yet, but may want to in the future.

What can I say about a water heater drain pan other than I hope it never has to work! Seems very sturdy and much less prone to the more popular aluminum ones as it can take a hit without denting or bending. The other thing is that it has small "dimples" on the bottom, so it allows some airflow to help keep the bottom dry. The one important feature I will point out is once you get your new water heater placed on it, the plastic pan is like Teflon and makes it very easy to move the assembly around and in place. Nice pan!

The reason I picked the plastic drain pan over steel was rust issues , so far the pan looks great . I hope I never have to see how good it works with a leak . I got this pan when I bought my replacement Rheem hot water tank the tank being replaced was a GE and I would not recommend a GE and will never buy or install another one . Home depot treated me very fairly with the return warranty on the GE and that is one of the reasons Home depot is my go to Home service supply store for the last 35years.

Had to tighten plug in drain hole to stop it from leaking. and carefully level the pan on a large concrete block. Seems to be working fine and it works with the bucket automatically keeping the pan full for bees to drink.
