Customer Questions & Answers

How do you remove the pins from the hinges? We've tried everything, knocking them w/ hammers, trying to pry them apart, nothing works.

It states there have removable pins, but why can't we get them off? Thanks
Asked by: JaDoe
You don't have to remove the pins. You can remove and replace the hinges one at a time without removing the door. Make sure you fit the hinge in the door hinge cut-out while screwing it in so that the hinge sits flush into its cut-out.

Longer screws

Do you sell longer screws for this hinge?
Asked by: Norm
Yes you can use longer screw and they are mostly readily available through either your local Home Depot location or through HD.com. Use a #8 wood screw with a tapered head so it will slightly recess into the hinge and not interfere with your door closing. Careful not to over tighten a longer screw into the door jamb because you could pull the door out of plumb and/or level which could cause the door to function improperly. If the existing screw hole is too big try this helpful trick; shove either the non-striking end of a wood match or a toothpick into the hole and break it off flush. This will fill the hole giving your screw something to bite into when driving it.

Is the pin removeable?

Can the pin be removed to quickly remove a door?
Asked by: DanO
Yes the pin is removable. Simply using a thin screwdriver or awl insert either into the hole on the bottom of the hinge tapping upwards with a hammer. The first time it is removed will be the most difficult.

How is the radius measured?

I know I need 3 and one half inch, but I don't know how to determine the radius???
Asked by: Mark2
Instead of two rectangular pieces that meet in the middle with the door pin they have rounded corners as in the photo the four coners are the top left, top right, bottom left, and bottom right. These all have a 5/9" radius

We went through our entire house replacing the hinge from the old gold/bright brass ones with some satin nickel; it totally changed the look of the door. With the matching handle sets one would think we changed the entire door. They even make the old trim look better somehow. They were easy to install; I did every door, fifteen in total, in under two hours. Solid construction, feels heavier than the originals.
