Customer Questions & Answers

Should this product be fully extended and cut to size or extend only to length needed

Asked by: JohnR
No need to cut, Extend only to length needed, make connections and tape to complete with HVAC Foil Tape. Don't use the cheap tape, use the expensive stuff, the glue is better on the tape.

can this be used to vent a furnace or water heater for the flue pipe

Asked by: Conper1
I wouldn't use it for a heater or water heater vent. I think you need to use the more ridged pipe. I'm almost sure it wouldn't pass code. I try to build better than code. My family depends on me to do my best.

This is exactly what I was looking for, and it should have worked perfectly, but the quality and design is extremely poor. First, both collars come off at the slightest sign of pressure. Literally one rivet on each end holding the collars on. So I taped them back on with aluminum tape. Once I installed it, I noticed the a gap where the spiraled seam had split right in the middle of the pipe. By the time I tried to fix that and finish getting it lined up, the whole thing was falling apart. I could pull this product apart with my two small toes. I don't know how this would possibly last for anybody, especially in the future when trying to clean with a duct brush. I couldn't save $12, but you still can. Do not buy this junk.

Duct is not meant to be pulled out to stated maximum length in my opinion. If you try to do this, it will start to come apart and unravel causing leaks. Pretty fragile because of its wall thickness and spiral wound construction. Best used at less than stated max length.

I bought the 4 in x 6 ft Semi-Rigid Aluminum Duct with Collars to connect my dryer to the wall 4 ft away. One of the collars broke off as soon as I tried to stretch it. Now I have to return it and buy something new. Don't waste your time with this product.

Bends stay in place, easy to flex in the direction needed. The Collars that connect to the flex pipe can be pulled off if you pull too hard, so take care during installation. Once everything is in place, make sure you secure all connections with foil tape. I used: Nashua Tape 2-1/2 in. x 60 yd. 324 Amp Premium Foil UL Listed HVAC Tape, Metallic. It kept everything in place and will for years to come. I replaced an older white plastic cheap dryer vent hose, the metal is good for the peace of mind. I also cleaned the exhaust vent opening on the exterior of the house and removed/cleaned excess lint at the exhaust port of the dryer.

It definitely works better than that illegal vinyl one I had. It had so much lint in it all through it. I can't believe you still sell that thing. You should take that out of your store - it is a fire hazard.
