Answer:
I would never recommend this for tying out an animal. It is extremely heavy for that task and I don't believe your dog could possibly need a chain rated for 4,700#

Answer:
Good luck cutting this chain. Hardened steel is difficult to cut added to the difficulty is the chain will move. You would be advised to use the entire length unless you have access to a very very good set of bolt cutter.

Rated 4.5 out of 5 by 4 reviewers.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great Quality, Superior Durability - So Many Uses! I restore vehicles and work on friend's cars in my garage, so there's never a shortage of uses for a chain. This chain is perfect for any job and my favorite use so far was pulling out rose bushes! With it's locking hooks on each side, one this guy is wrapped a couple times around a bush, then hooked up to a truck, it makes a long job into a very short one - after 16 rose bushes I was more than pleased with the many hours this chain saved me. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by CHAIN WITH HOOKS. I bought this chain to secure my 24 foot ladder to a tree outside, it's heavy, strong and I think takes long time to be cut by any tools. February 16, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Good chain for pulling out bushes! I bought this chain to pull out about 15 large hedges with my truck. This is a strong and heavy chain and made the job easy! May 26, 2015
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Change clips Bought to pull some bushes out with my Jeep. First use was pulling a small tree stump. Worked well but when putting chain away found one of the end hooks came off. Luckily I found all the pieces and reassembled. It came with hair pin clips to hold the end hooks on - not the cotter pins like in the picture. Going to replace both ends with heavy cotter pins. Yes it is made in China January 22, 2015
