I took it back and ordered an element SOCKET from an online outlet and once that was received, the element replacement job took about five mints with no cuts! do yourself a favor and purchase the 1 1/2" socket that attaches to a 1/2 drive ratchet which worked great.

If you DON'T have a socket big enough to remove the element, you need this. If you DO have a big socket you can put a 1/2 inch breaker bar on.... that's better. For the price, it WILL save you a lot of cursing (a pipe wrench or big crescent is NOT the tool for removing an element).

Other reviews are saying it's poor quality, I didn't have any issues with this. A hefty screwdriver through the holes and I was able to pop my element out and screw the new one in without any problems. Into my socket drawer it goes for the next time an element blows.

It is basically just a socket, it worked to remove one element of water heater, but could not get a good enough grip on second element. Element slightly corroded but not bad. As stated worked on one but kept slipping on second.

The 5 in. element wrench works great for removing the heating element from your water heater. It's cheap, and does't take up much room in your tool box for somethings you won't use for another ten years as a homeowner.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Worked great. Fit my heating elements perfectly (Whirlpool water heater). You need a screw driver because it doesn't come with a bar. It made the job much easier having this tool to remove and replace the heating elements.
