Customer Questions & Answers

can this element heat water to 190 degrees f

can this element heat water to 190 degrees F
Asked by: mark
I don't know if the element can be set to 190 F. The maximum temperature for a domestic water heater is 140F. Temperature setting over 140 can cause scalding of the user.

Customer Reviews

5500-Watt/240-Volt HWD Fold-Back Element is rated 4.0 out of 5 by 1.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Defective water heater heating element caused water heater leak I came home to find my water heater leaking. Investigation showed the leak was in the lower heating element. I brought my instruction book and the HD associate got me the correct replacement heating element. He also got me the necessary removal/installation tool. The element was very difficult to remove. I used a 18" x 3/8" round steel bar, PB penetrating oil and 10 minutes of tapping to get the element out. Installing the new heating element was easy. Fixing a leaking water heater for less than $20 was a GOOD deal.
