are the strips metal or plastic?

I bought it as a gift and packaging doesn't answer the question. The product is made in CHina and has no contact info

What are the measurements?

It says 64 inches but that would be over 5 feet long! It just doesn't seem correct
Asked by: Leonard
The product includes (4) 16" (distance between studs) which is 64" or 5' 4" which is a little longer than 5'. The height is 2". If your wall studs do not line up with the predrilled holes in the rack, I would suggest that you install a 1"x2" or 1"x3" board on the wall anchoring the board into the studs, then install the plastic strips from the kit onto the board.

There is no mounting instructions and the placement of the pegs and shorter pieces is unclear. I understand the mounting of the longer pieces and mounting either between studs using the moles and screws or mounting to a longer piece of wood that is connected to the wallboard and the studs and then using the wood screws. The small slightly angled pegs and pieces are not clear. The pegs do not appear to snap in either the holes along the bottom of the longer plastic strips or into the small pieces. The pictures on the box are not clear. They are too small to show detail properly.
Asked by: Shari
I have no answer for you, only sympathy. I can't figure them out either, and I'm usually pretty handy. Seems as though they should snap directly into the rails. But they are too small and fall back out of those holes. The other rectangular small pieces are a complete mystery to me. I sure hope someone resolves this, because I'd like to use the small pegs to hang my clippers and gardening gloves.

This is a decent item priced competitively against models that perform similar functions.  I purchased it to use in a basement closet to store cleaning supplies.  Though there are no instructions included, it is easy to put together.  It comes with mounting screws and a variety of pieces to support various configurations.  I ended up placing two units together to form a 32" bar that I mounted in the entry to my basement closet.  It mounted very easily and looks good, though the plastic construction is fairly light and it will only support comparably sized tools.  I definitely wouldn't hang anything with significant weight, but it serves my needs.  The 32" bar has enough space to hang a mop, a small Swiffer wet mop, a broom, a utility hose, and a few odds and ends.  I don't have any immediate plans for the two remaining 16" bars, though I have toyed with the idea of hanging them individually to flank my garage doors so that I can hang similarly sized items.  I'm not blown away with the item, but neither do I regret purchasing it.  For the price, it's of average construction and durability.

I was at first surprised to see that the backing plates were made of plastic, but there are plenty of screws to hold this in place and secure it to the wall and it easily holds all of the weight I put on it. I used this to hold long handled garden tools (shovels, rakes, brooms, hoe's, post hole digger, hedge trimmers, edger, and even more stuff) and I used ALL of the hooks (I even bought more hooks and a second set) so it is holding a lot of weight. A good way to organize garden equipment.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Works just so-so It was easy to install. Works OK with some items but "touchy" with others. If one item falls it often takes a couple others with it. The texture on the hooks needs to be more sticky. I'm going to try what another reviewer suggested by putting thick tape on a spot on the handle. The pegs fit loosely & would need to be glued if you want to use.

After 3 plus year plastic has become brittle and all four strips I purchased have either substantial cracks or failed completely and fell from wall. Weight load limits were not exceeded. Not a durable product. Will use hooks with strapping on a 1X4. Do not buy.

Since there are few if any wooden or steel garden tool mounting systems available, I gave the Everbilt 64" system a try. I use it for gardening tools like shovels, rakes, brooms and a few smaller shears, shrub clipping tools and so on. I mounted the product on studs whenever possible. You can see the product flex like it will eventually come off the wall when you use the included screws/moly's which I had to do in a few places. It holds them but if you bump your tools being held by the product, they'll fall off the wall, sometimes in bunches. For the price and what I needed them for it works but if you have the time and money, I'd build some of your own.

Things I didn't understand from the photo or the specs (although they may have been in the latter): Comes with four of the pieces - you can use one or up to four. If you install more than one, the part sticking at one end, inserts into the piece next to it. Comes with a small piece that covers the last exposed sticking-out part, for a nicer final look. The row of small holes at the top are actually for installing little black hooks (sort of knobby) that come with it - they are easy to install or remove, but they don't stick out very far so are limited. We found hanging this upside down (as compared to the photo) worked better for us, so that any hooks added on are a bit easier to use.

It has some nice features with the hanging hooks and pegs, but the connection point between 2 when you string along is a weak point. Also, they only have screws for the plastic inserts, they should add screws for studs-I personally had a wood board that I added my own screws to mount. Works well!

They're supposed to "snap" in but they just fit loosely in the hole. The hooks are supposed to somehow grip the handle of the tools but anything slippery just falls through. Waste of time putting it up. Bought this a while back & finally put it up. Can't believe HD is still selling it.
