Customer Questions & Answers

How do you adjust the tension on these hinges?

Asked by: rascal
using the adjusting rod, turn the tension wheel clockwise and insert the little pegs into a hole furthest from the rod. the peg will keep that tension wheel from turning back to its original positions

What is the load capacity of a pair of these hinges.

Seems to me this is a piece of information that your programmers didn't think was necessary but is very important.
Asked by: Blair9095
60lbs per hinge according to the package.

Can the hinges be mounted on the inside of gate or outside of gate?

I installed the hinges on the inside of my gate(On the inside of my yard) and it is not closing without me having to close it. I have adjusted the hinges as much as possible and it still won't close without my help. Any suggestions?
Asked by: Handyman
This hinge should be installed on the outside of the gate.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nice hinge, instruction stink The hinge seems fine, however, after I installed the hinge I wanted to adjust the spring tension on the hinge there were no instructions; only a worthless picture.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from adjusting the tension for self closing to adjust the tension, this is the only method for me that works. Using the "adjusting rod", rotate the tension wheel clockwise, then stick that little pin in one of the holes furthest from the rod. The pin will keep the tension wheel from returning to its original position. this doesn't seem like a great design, and i'm not even sure if i'm doing it the right way, but it does work. I'm giving this 4 stars because you can't beat the price. Not sure if they'll hold up over time, but again, for 17 dollars, i'm used to terrible instructions. you get what you pay for as they say.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Poor instructions, packaging and manufacturing The instructions are terrible. They instruct you to turn the spring in the wrong direction but don't tell you how to keep it in place. It doesn't "ratchet" like they say. The first bag I bought was missing the adjusting rod and the keeper pins; and in the second bag one of the hinges were mismanufactured.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from These do not work! These do not self close a wood gate, if you try to tighten the spring it just releases and you have to try again, you can never get it where it will actually close the gate, it can't even move the gate a little. Total waste of money, these are going back.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Looks Good, But Bolts Snap Off They look good, and they're easy to install. However, the bolts snap (three per pair) when I went back to re-torque. I don't torque excessively as I am well versed in household work and fine model crafting. Just cheap metal from Asia.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from cant adjust the spring tension just purchased but cant seem to figure out how to adjust the tension. The instructions are beyond useless and the on line instructions are just a repeat of the same as on the package. Where does the retaining pin go? I'm usually pretty good at figuring things out but not this apparently. I will have to return these and find another solution.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Instructions worthless Same problem. Instructions don't explain how to adjust tension. They aren't self closing since I don't know how to adjust them.
