Customer Questions & Answers

where can I get replacement screws?

Purchased these hinges and most of the screws stripped the phillips head. Where can I get replacement screws or better yet, square drive head replacements? No one on Earth sells these screws that I can find.
Asked by: GLG123
Pretty typical of the screws shipped with this sort of gate hardware and I have no idea why. Phillips head screws are actually DESIGNED to "cam out", which mostly means that when you crank them down tight, it is really hard to avoid stripping out the heads. I don't even bother trying to use the manufacturer supplied screws with hardware like this, I just automatically buy hex head lag screws in an appropriate size and shoot them with spray paint so they match the gate hardware.

Will this hinge open 180 degrees?

Will this hinge open 180 degrees?
Asked by: GPJoe
Yes. I have them installed on my back fence, holding a double wide gate composed of 2 4ft panels, and installed so I can pull my pickup into the back yard. When I open the gate, I can swing both gate panels open 180 degrees so that the gates are flush with the adjacent fence panels and completely clear of the drive.

8 in. x 5.5 in. Black Heavy Duty Decorative Tee Hinge is rated 4.0 out of 5 by 2.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Beef up your gate to kid proof it Originally I bought the gate and latch set that matches these hinges, but once I had the gate up I realized that the passel of kids we have around here were going to destroy the gate if I didn't beef it up quite a bit. I added a heavy 2x4 cedar frame and cross braces to the gate, upgraded to a 4x6 gate post, and doubled up the hinges. I also replaced the supplied screws with 3" # 10 panheads which I spraypainted to match the other hardware. These are good hinges, you just need to be aware of the use your family will give the gate and adjust your plan accordingly.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Looks good Hinge is nice looking and solid but had some trouble with the screws. Despite predrilling the holes, the screws seemed to struggle going in thicker boards.
