How do I install this so that the height is adjustable?

I read and re-read the directions and am unclear as to proper placement, installation and use of the metal rod and the plastic adjuster. I do not see how I can "insert the metal post "throught" either of the small holes on the riser" since there is only one and the metal post does not fit through it. Thank you,

There is a little (3/16 inch) spaced that you can put under it. I just installed one of these today. This type if stop is used virtually everywhere. Cheap and does the job.

It is not suitable for every door because you don't want to trip or stub a toe on this. I installed it at our entry door that gets a lot of use. The prior door stop was one of those that installs on the hinge pin. It was causing dents in the door. This door stop protects the door from striking a counter. One caution on installation. The instructions call for pilot holes for the metal post to be 5/16, which in my case is way too small. I bent the post trying to force it in the hole. Fortunately, with the help of pliers, I was able to straighten the post and continue. I move progressively up in drill bit size to 13/16, which worked fine.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from After not even a year the things is a rusty mess. It works fine, but is an eyesore and leaving stains. Put this in and in less than a year it has rusted. It now looks terrible and is leaving rust stains around it.
