Questions & Answers

What is this for?

Asked by: Brent
I used it to secure my shutters during hurricane Irma. I installed one of these on either side of the shutters (opposite corners), then slid an 8 foot 2x4 through so it reinforced the shutters. I used a couple shims behind the 2x4 to make it snug so the wind couldn't move it.

The product has definitely be redesigned since the first two reviews. 2x4 fits perfect with about 1/8 inch play. If you need it to be snug enough that the board does not move, just slip a small shim behind the 2x4.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from What good is it if it won't hold a 2X4? What good is stake holder, if you have to saw then sand a 2X4 to fit in the holder? I don't keep 2X3's laying around for stakes. The one ones on my cheap discount trailer takes a 2X4's without modification.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from NOT FOR 2x4's. If you're using this to attach 2x4's to something, you're wasting your money. What a stupid product for Home Depot to sell. It looks like a 2x4 will fit in the holder, but it's 1/8 of an inch off. So, either you sand down a 2x4 or use a 2x3 which fits too loose. I can't imagine why HD even sells this as it's a time waster. NOT for 2x4's!!!!!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Holds a 2x4 just fine. Not sure if they redesigned since the other reviews, but I purchased 2 last night and they hold a 2x4 just fine. There is probably about 1/8" of play.
