Product Overview

The PowerArc 140 ST from Everlast is a perfect choice for the customer who has a farm, home shop or even a small fabrication business. This is the unit to have while you are out on the trail, at the track or just in your shop doing everyday fabrication chores. In fact, you can say goodbye to heavy transformer welder sitting in the corner. The dual-voltage IGBT inverter design allows the unit to go anywhere, and operate off of any standard power outlet. Maximum amp output operating on 240-Volt is 140 amps for TIG and Stick. The amp output while operating on 120-Volt is 87 (+- 3) amps for stick and 95(+-3) amps for TIG. The PowerArc 140ST will weld almost any metal except for aluminum and magnesium with its stick or lift-arc TIG feature. The PowerArc 140 ST comes with about everything you need to weld, including a convenient carry case (except TIG regulator and Tungsten). The stick and a standard 17 series gas-valve TIG torch, along with the work clamp are included as part of the welder package. Included also is a small starter kit of consumables for TIG. Nothing needs to be changed internally to go between 240-Volt and 120-Volt operation. The unit performs equally well in either stick or TIG mode. The unit can weld electrodes from 1/16 in. up to 1/8 in. thick in stick mode, and can weld up to 3/16 in. plate metal in a single pass. E6011, E6013, E7014 and E7018 stick welding rods (electrodes) all weld easily due to the automatic hot start and adaptive arc force control.

  • 10-140-amp welder with stick and lift arc TIG features for welding steel, stainless and even copper
  • Dual voltage 120/240-volt design offers go anywhere performance; reduced output while operating on 120-volt)
  • Compact inverter provides a commercial 35% duty cycle while reducing size and weight
  • Adaptive arc force control
  • Convenient carry case along with stick and TIG torch and work cable/clamp included

Customer Questions & Answers

Can this unit run off a portable generator?

If so how large a generator would be needed?
Asked by: GGWinTexas
Yes. Inverters do the best job on generators, however, the max output of the generator still needs to exceed the demands of the inverter by a decent margin. An under powered source or evenly powered source will result in a broken arc and a bad time. Use a generator that's putting out 20% more power than what the machine calls for.

How often does this unit come "in stock online" ? It's been well over 2 weeks now and I really want one lol.

Asked by: nawofford
In my area, it's only available online. UPS it to your store or home. Stores can't carry everything.

I tried it out on some thin scrap metal at 65 amps plugged into 110 current, and it started easy, without a lot of scratching. I haven't tried it with 220 V yet. The TIG setup looks a little skimpy to me, but I don't know anything about TIG. They threw in a silly little welding mask and a cheap brush/hammer.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good welder I've used this welder 3 times already on angle iron and 1/4 inch steel hooks for tie downs on my trailer with ease. For a small welder it's awesome for mobility, welding ease and I love the carry case. Very good product.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from BETTER THAN EXPECTED No. 1: I am not an expert welder or "Mr. Fix-It". No. 2: The original unit had to be returned because it would not turn on. However the customer service was 5 star. 1/2 point off. No. 3: The replacement unit welds like a bandit. I was really amazed. In experienced hands this unit can handle just about any job. No. 4: 1/3 to 1/4th the cost of an American made (maybe) unit. No. 5: Simple and easy to use. I have added a photo of my practice weld, using 1/8th dirty mild steel with a 1/8 6011 rod at 107 amps. All it takes is practice, practice, practice.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great welder I have used it several times already and it does a great job. Much easier to use than the old AC buzzboxes. The DC has a much more stable arc. The dual voltage is a very nice feature that makes it very portable as is the small size and light weight of the welder. The quality is very good (outstanding for the price) and the 10 foot stinger and ground cables make it very easy to work on out of position welding jobs. I researched several welders in this price ranges and I am very happy I picked this one. The 5 year warranties is just icing on the cake.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Powerful compact welder I bought one of these welders for my father. He is a welder and was constantly saying how he wished he had a welder at home to fix and make things so I got him one of these. It is really, really small and comes with its own carrying case to port around the welder, cables and consumables. Even I had an easy time using it. Starts are easy and it wouldn't stick the electrode even when I accidently pushed the rod into work too close. Its a great gift for both beginner and experienced welders.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Powerarc 140ST Stick / TIG Welder This welder is about the size of a large lunchbox but don’t let the diminutive size fool you. It is dual voltage capable and can handle readily available 1/8” electrodes with aplomb. Unlike heavy, large transformer-based welders, this IGBT welder has hot start and automatic dig circuitry to make welding easier and more efficient by taking the stick out of stick welding. It has a maximum welding amperage of 140 amps in increments of single amps and doesn’t limit you to 4 or 5 ranges like some welders. All of this and it comes in its own carrying case. I really, really like this welder.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from High value for dollar welder I needed a stick welder and even though the POWERARC 140 will TIG weld, I am only using it with stick electrodes. It welds 6011 rods great. I think it strikes an arc better using 240 supply voltage, but it works okay on 110v. I ordered a large extension cord with the correct plugs on the site named after the jungle in South America. #6 size wire so it will run this welder plus any larger ones I may get in the future. The cost of the ready make cord was less than buying smaller sized wire and buying plug and receptacle ends for it. They print your name on the cord for free as well. The case supplied with the welder is nice, will protect it some and keeps everything together. A nice extra. The supplied welding leads are adequate, but that is all. Same goes with the ground clamp and stinger. I may replace those, but not now. The welding arc is very smooth, typical of DC welders. I am very happy so far with the purchase. I am building a set of decorative handrails for stairs. Plus I have repaired several machinery items as well. Just get HD to ship to your house or business, It costs the same and is drop shipped from the factory. Home Depot also has a good selection of electrodes for sale at the store as well as chipping hammer, gloves, soapstone, ect.
