If you're looking at this toolbox, you're probably debating between this one - with one tier of cantilevered storage - and a similar model with two tiers of cantilevered storage.
I opted for the smaller box because I was looking for something I could stow under the sink. I'm happy enough with the final product. The powder coat didn't have any scratches, the steel was thick enough for the price point, and the external hinges function well enough. Some of the pricier, larger boxes have internal hinges and thicker gauge steel, but this box works well enough for a light duty homeowner / apartment dweller box. (Pro tip- glue some rubber drawer liner and the bottom and your spouse will never yell at you again for putting you metal toolbox on the wood table!)
I wouldn't expect this box to survive the rigors of machine shops and the back of pickup trucks- you'll want something sturdier that can take getting knocked around.
I have not had an opportunity to examine the two-tier cantilevered version of this box, but I'd be concerned that filling up he second tier would be too much weight for the box to carry without bending. This one tier version doesn't seem to have that problem.
For those of you who have handled old Kennedy boxes, don't expect this to be as sturdy- but it's definitely sturdy enough for a small box of most-commonly-used tools stored under the sink.
I'd buy another one for a family member.
