Answer:
You could be injecting water with particulates into the pump assembly, and the pump assembly states it needs city pressure to operate properly, I'd advise against it, you could damage the pump assembly

1. Is my well water too hard to cut the dirt? Between the cutting power of the hi-pressure and the solvent action of the detergent, YES you can use well water.
2. What is the Gallon per min. on your well pump. I recall the the power washer people recommend approx 5 gal per min supply.
3. And most important the capacity and recovery rate of your well. When you use this washer, you will be spraying water continuously for 1/2 hour minimum. Can your well take having a faucet in your house turned on full blast for a 1/2 hour without sucking mud or dropping the water level below the pump?
4. Just read your question again. If you are worried able the hardness/calcium/minerals in your water harming the pump, you can purchase pump guard/pump saver oil to put in the pump before you put it away for storage.

Answer:
The description and the specs mention a detergent injection feature. and the photos of the pump show a coiled clear tube with a filter on the end. Many manufactures just have a tube that you drop into the gallon soap bottle sitting next to your unit on the ground. Saves the mess of having soap dry up in the on-board tank when you store it for any length of time.

Customer Reviews

3100-PSI 2.8-GPM Gas Pressure Washer is rated 3.9 out of 5 by 70.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good deal ... Went together fairly well. Parts were scattered in the box but all were there. The tires are not pneumatic but are foam filled and developed a flat spot from sitting in the floor. Don't really like the "soap" dispenser mechanism for there is no way to turn off and on except to pull hose from the container. It is worth the money for the twice a year user.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Review of Excell 3100 I had bought this pressure washer after a long time searching for the best washer for the price, I thought I had found the "one", so I ordered it online. delivery took 8_10 days, on the day of delivery, I put it together and much to my surprise, it would not start or even turnover. this is after following all the start up directions to the letter, I tried for about a week to get it started but still had no luck of getting it started. I called manufacturer and they wanted me to take it to a certified repair for warranty, only problem the closes one was about 35 miles away. this was just to far. so I took it back to home depot with no problem at all. so I am still looking.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from worst product ever. I do not understand high ratings Pressure washer came with missing screws and washers which I need to purchase to complete assembly. Then the pressure washer would not start, After 30 minutes of pulling the cord, I called the manufacture that told me I could take it to the nearest warranty center to determine if is was defective or I broke it. I told them that it was brand new and that I did not want to wait several weeks for a repair. He said I had no other options because once I put gas in it, it was no longer returnable. Luckily, the people at my local Home Depot were more reasonable and returned the product and told me that most of these pressure washers are returned. Don't believe the good ratings...this product is a lemon with red paint on it.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Brand New: Doesn't Start... Brand new 3100 PSI Pressure Washer never started. I tried for about 30 minutes, then had to find a way to bring it to Home Depot. Once at Home Depot a tech also tried to start it, but couldn't. The tech thought it may be the gasket We took the spark pug out and never saw a spark. (Of course Home Depot doesn't carry this spark plug). I decided to return it I'll buy another brand next time!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from It seems like a decent Power Washer, But... The box arrived in a timely manner, and was not damaged. All the parts we're in the box and assembly was easy. It started on the fourth pull and has gotten easier since. It does work well but it doesn't seem to live up to the 3100 PSI. The main reason I am unhappy is that the soap line does not draw any soap. I have diluted the soap, cleaned the ends and tube, I have removed the spring and steel ball and cleaned it out, using the black tip only. I feel I shouldn't have to do any cleaning out since it is brand new. I did find residual plaque in it. None of it seems to make it work. Other than taking the whole thing apart, I would not recommend this product and I will return it immediately.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from An excellent Value Cranked on the first pull. Very powerful; much mores so than my previous 2600. The only issue I have is that the rubber stoppers seem to be wearing down already. This is from when the machine is idle and bouncing around. Also there was a screw missing for gun holster which after a quick phone call, was sent to me. Overall, an amazing value and simple enough that my kid can help.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Works good after finally getting delivered It works good with plenty of power for jobs around the house. . Takes up to three pulls to start sometimes and the vibration of the unit while running causes the unit to circle itself while being used tangling up the hoses. Have used it for about 5 hours so far.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from cheaply made pressure washer Bought this pressure washer a week ago online and finally got it yesterday and assembled it poured gas in tank filled oil and started it up for about 2 seconds it then blew the pressure hose right off the fitting that holds it to the pump i looked at the fittings and it blew off because the locking collar wasn't even the right size which lead me to believe that this was assembled with poor quality control returned it immediately to Home Depot as even though the engine started right up I did not want to take the chance of something else breaking if they can't even make a hose right
