What associated items are required to use this compound on your composite deck?

What other tools or equipment will I need?
Asked by: Ripcords
A cheap sprayer ($15 or so), a stiff(er) plastic brush--handheld or on a pole, plastic gloves, plastic drop cloth to cover plants around side of deck, and a hose (or power washer using the lower setting). Oh, a bucket so you can mix some diluted cleaner to use with the brush. That's pretty much it.

Customer Reviews

128 oz. Composite Deck Cleaner and Enhancer is rated 4.4 out of 5 by 144.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Couldn't be happier I hadn't cleaned my composite deck in about 2 years. It was easier to use then the Corte*Clean product previously applied in the years prior. That item was increasing becoming hard to find. So, I switched to something new. I treated a small area of my deck with the chemical (just dripped out of container). Attached is a photo of it after sitting for about 10 minutes. No scrubbing was performed. All of the green mold disappeared. I have 200 sq ft deck and used 2 gallons. It barely made it on the second application. Overall results were great. I will purchase this again next year.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Really did the Trick - Great Product The product had to be ordered online. It arrived at my house within 4 days of ordering. The directions stated it had to be used within 30 days of delivery to ensure the chemicals in the product did what they were supposed to do. After reading the directions, I emptied the product into a sprayer and sprayed my deck. It immediately began breaking up the mold spots. This product was outstanding...It did the trick as far as cleaning my composite deck which now looks brand new. I would purchase this product again and would recommend it to anyone with a compositie deck.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Wow my Deck looks brand new I read reviews all over the internet trying to find a good product to restore my composite deck from the stains and dirt. I purchased the deck cleaner and enhancer through Home Depot. I started with a small section of the deck. The minute I applied this product it started to work and with in 30 minutes that section looked brand new. I have since order more product to finish the remainder of the deck. It really did work for me.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from product works on Trex decking. I followed the directions pretty close and the first application took all the mold off. I continued as directed. It did seem to fade the color a bit, or some of the cleaner residue is still present. There is no trace of the mold and when the deck is wet all the color is restored. So next step per Trex website is to buy a restoration color product. Step after that is to never buy Trex again. Low maintenance, yeah right.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Works very well Purchased two bottles and used a small spray pump to apply the liquid full strength. You can see from the photo that our Trex decking had both all-over mildew plus black mold spots. The mildew cleared up almost immediately, but I wasn't sure that it was working on the black mold as well, so I used a hard nylon bristle brush to scrub areas that were very bad. I recommend NOT doing this. After the product dried, the areas I had scrubbed look lighter, more worn than the deck areas that I had not scrubbed. Plus, the black mold spots had disappeared even from the areas that I had not scrubbed. It does appear that it has slightly lightened/bleached the color throughout the whole deck, but we don't really mind it. It has been a month since we've used the product and the deck still looks great. It says to be careful around plants and grass. I went back and sprayed water on the grass that was adjacent to some of the deck area and we saw no damage to the grass. I've given it 4 instead of 5 stars because of the color bleaching element and its cost.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Finally - A Product That Works! Over the years we tried several different mold cleaners for our composite deck along with pressure washing. Most didn't work at all, others worked short term with the mold growing back fast and heavier. It got to the point we were ready to rip out the 5 year old, 400 sq. ft. deck and replace it with concrete. Although there are 3 application steps, you will see amazing results after step 1. In our case 90% was gone before scrubbing started in step 2. (Our light grey deck shows the mold best when wet.) I plan to use this product every spring because it really does make the deck look new again.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome! This is the ONLY product that took out the mold that had permeated our Trex decking. We tried other products and this is the only one that looks brand new. Make sure you follow all three does make a difference.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Worked like a charm... I found that one bottle more than covered our 10 X10 deck, stairs and rails for cleaning purposes. Not sure the second application is really necessary. I used what I had left, but it leaves sticky residue on the deck which my husband tracked into the house. I'm pretty sure it will wash off in the first rain anyway. It definitely has a strong chemical (bleachy smell) so it would be better to apply on a day with some breeze.
