Answer:
If you mean during the installation process, then not necessarily, if you can keep the frame inside the rough opening. If you mean as a finished product, then yes. Solid core doors are heavy, so the more support the better.

Answer:
All of the weight of a door, (hollow or solid core) is at the hinges. The other jam is there for the closure hardware.
On the opposite side of the wall (if that is what you're referring to) the casing properly attached to the jam will supply all the support you need for a solid or hollow core door. I've got 6-8 sold cores in my house and only use the recommended 6 clips per door, and after 8 years Read More

Answer:
I've installed a lot of solid core doors and use 6 for a single door. 3 by the hinges and 3 opposite the hinges. I've never installed on both sides of the jamb on the same side except for maybe a heavy double door. Are you sure you're screwing into the wood 2x4's of the rough opening?

The description states these are for pre-hung interior doors, what should I use for pre-hung exterior doors? These look like they're a wonderful product, but I've got two exterior doors to install as well as the interior doors.

As a remodeling pro, I wouldn't hesitate to use them for an exterior door, however I would say and add the following step for a most secure installation. They are a bit flexible to allow for adjustment (as they show near the end of the video) and maybe that's why they don't want them to be used for exterior doors. To firm up an exterior door installation with this bracket, I would install it per the video, then place shims or other appropriate spacers in between the jamb and the rough 2x4 just to fill the gap and then pre-drill holes and place long counter sunk screws through the jamb and those shims like the old fashioned method but primarily just to hold the whole door frame in place even more securely than just with the brackets, but the hard work of getting the door installed square and perfectly will be done in minutes with use of the brackets first. I'd certainly go this route on an exterior door installation because the brackets are so easy to get the door installation done and perfect literally in minutes...and that's from my own use of them. Answer:
Most rough openings for doors aren't perfectly square in any house. That's the whole point of the clips. They help you get things square in 2 minutes.
Now if your opening is not large enough to accommodate the door in a "square" position, then you need to enlarge the opening. If your opening is too large, you might want to consider oversized casing to hide the gap.

Quick Door Hanger 10 Door Value Pack is rated 4.7 out of 5 by 119.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from TIME SAVER! I have been in the construction field for over 10 years and have hung quit a few pre-hung doors during that time. I have seen these clips around for a while but i never pulled the trigger. I decided to try them out on this renovation Im working on now since I had 22 doors to hang. This product made it super easy. I was able to hang all the doors by myself in one day while my guys tiled and it was an absolute pleasure. Not only did they work as advertised but adjusting the doors was super easy just back off the screws move the door jamb and re-tighten. I used maybe 3 shims on the whole job. Not to mention that I didn't have to whip out the air compressor and trip over the air hose all day long. Just an impact driver a tool belt and a 6' level. I would say that if you have even one door to hang these things are worth it. If you have a bunch to hang then its a no brainer.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The only way for a novice to hang a door! I had to install 7 split jamb doors in my house and had never hung a door. I watched all the videos on how to do this and decide to try the Quick Door Hanger. It was a cinch to make the door perfectly level and to get the reveal lined up perfectly. And if it wasn't perfect, you could simply loosen the screws and adjust it again. You can't do that nailing up a pre-hung door. The only drawback was I had to remove the pre-installed trim on the hinge side of the door. If you're a pro and trust yourself to nail up the split case level, this is an unnecessary waste of 15 minutes.. But if you're a novice like me, the ability to adjust the door frame out weighs the extra time.

I really hate hanging double closet doors. These little gizzmos make it a breeze for absolute rookies if you follow the directions and you watch the video. I still shimmed after the doors were hung just because I think that offers a bit more support for the jamb. But these are worth every penny.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good for hanging the door in the frame They are made of a light gauge metal, bend easily which I suppose is helpful for countersinking the screws in the sheetrock so they don't get in the way of the trim. Still a very good idea to shim the doorframe also, as these are too flexible to be relied upon themselves. Still very handy on the install, made hanging doors a one-man job

Rated 5 out of 5 by from General contractor Been hanging doors for over 40 years. Great product. Watched on YouTube and the guy was using 12 on a door, 6 on each side. You only need 6 on one because once you install the trim the door becomes tighter. Again great product.
