Customer Reviews

Digital Sound Level Meter is rated 3.0 out of 5 by 2.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good value This sound meter is easy to understand. The default settings are sensible. There are a number of good options that can be set for special purposes, and it can be calibrated if you have the facilities. The manual was available to preview online from Extech to judge applicability. The printed one with the meter is hidden between the card layers in the display package it is packed in. Not a big issue for me, but the small downsides are: The on switch takes very little force to operate so the meter could use up battery energy by coming on if bumped. It does have an automatic turn off after a length of time. (they, AAA, are included but not installed as it comes) It takes several seconds to initialize once it is turned on, only an issue if you are the impatient type and turn it off often.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not sure why this is better I bought a multimeter with a sound meter function from Harbor (not so great ) Freight for about the same amount. Don't know why this one would be better. Sure can't tell by looking here. I do see one issue here. It says this meter only ranges from 40 Db to 130 Db. I am an architect measuring rooms and maximum allowed for a bedroom is 25 Db. Max. for a Living room is 40. The multimeter went down to 10 Db in a closet near a highway. It didn't register all in noises you could hear from outside. Frankly, I don't know much about acoustics and meters. But if thus Exactech only starts at 40 Db it is next to useless Outside of that I don't know what it would have over the multimeter not to mention that is a one trick pony.
