Do you have a tape measure with the 16th imprinted on it

Most tapes are marked with 16th.

My tape won't retract,do I get a replacement for free?

Asked by: Elmorro
In general, I would say no. All tapes become hard to retract over time and if they are used in dirty environments. If the tape is new, it may be defective and I would consider taking it back to your local Home Depot in that case. I've got easily a dozen of these tapes in various lengths around and I eventually open most every one of them up to add a full turn of tension on the spring as they get older.

16 ft. Tape Measure is rated 4.4 out of 5 by 47.
Rated 3 out of 5 by from fat max 16' tape It's a good tape. I was/still am a bit annoyed at having to replace my previous one so soon though. It is less than 6 months old but worn out. So I may have to look into other options for the 25 footer I need.it's a good tape, but it seems the lifetime warranty isn't what it used to be. However, it's still more accurate than most.

The blade is wide enough that you can extend it quite a ways before it collapses. The 16' size, fit my hand nicely, and is long enough to measure most of the distances I require. The 25' however, is a bit too large for me to grasp comfortably, so I don't use the 25 unless I really need to.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from FATMAX 16' Tape Measure This tape is much thinner than the last one I owned. I purchased the new tape because I was noticing a sideways twist when extending out my old tape. Unfortunately the brand new one twists and droops more than the old one. I will be looking for a replacement.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from FATMAX Tape Measure Have been using a FATMAX tape measure for years. It held up to alot of use and abuse. Lost/misplaced it, so replaced it with another FATMAX. The only thing wrong is I meant to pick up a 25' FATMAX. But,this one will work.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great tape This is a great tough tape! I use it mainly for layout only because for regular carpentry I need a much larger head on the tape. If Stanley ever makes a Fat Max with a good large head, it would be near perfect.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fatmax Very well built! My other tape measures kept breaking around the 5 inch mark or the stop would get stuck. The fat max is wider and operates smoothly.
