Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Roger Digital Multimeter with Advanced functionality
Flir IM75 digital multimeter with the Insulation Testing capabilities is a must have for Industrial testing. Due to variable frequency drive mode allows you have to get accurate results despite the noisy signal. Added bonus is the bluetooth connectivity that allows you to remotely monitor and run diagnosis using the FLIR Tools Mobile App. In darker places you can use the built in LEDs for illumination. The multimeter measures up to 1 KV of voltage. Standard multimeter functions such as capacitance, diode, transistor testing, Amperage etc are included. As per the manual insulation tests can be conducted instantaneously but I have nit checked that functional robust construction. The smartphone app does allows you to share readings or create reports.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by austinlightpollution Best multi meter I've owned
I never seen anything like this before so I got one and was blown away with it's features to test electrical current &battery life and tested a motor's health to find it is in good condition
This is a good unit for ham radio for electronic shops electrical workers and inspectors Bluetooth connectivity with my droid for detailed info and I'm still learning the benefits But as a ham radio owner and seeking my license so this Flir will be a real time problem solving unit down the road as I set it all up

FLIR is a big brand name and with this device they once again don't disappoint.
This is a device for professionals, not DIY. You can get a multi-meter for much cheaper, BUT this device has many more functions with the insulation tester. The Bluetooth connectivity to your smartphone is a great feature too, as it allows you to measure without being right next to the power source.
The device has a very sturdy feel and will likely last for years in a professional every day use.

The FLIR IM75 is both an advanced multifunction digital multimeter where you measure AC & DC voltages, resistance, capacitance etc and premier handheld insulation tester for installation, troubleshooting and maintenance by technicians and professionals.
The IM75 includes several specialty insulation modes including, like Polarization Index, Dielectric Absorption and Earth Bond Resistance. Insulation tests can be performed instantly, continuously and over a timed duration for in-depth assessment, the way you like it.
One of the best feature I like is the Bluetooth connection with the METERLiNK Android and iOS Application. I can pair my IR camera with this multimeter, and get the data on the camera screen.
This is a product well made, and can be used for a life time, thanks to the research and development team of FLIR.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Camano An Excellent Insulation Tester
This is a specialty instrument. While it has some limited multimeter capabilities, what makes it special are the functions specific to measuring insulation characteristics with high voltage and measuring the quality of ground connections.
These measurements are typically used to monitor equipment with a large amount of insulated wire, such as electric motor windings, electric heating appliances, and to determine the safety of grounded appliances. The manual doesn't explain the principles behind these tests, but if you can find information online.
The insulation tests should not be done on powered equipment or any equipment containing solid-state circuitry like VFD motor drive units since high voltages are applied during the test. You can also shock yourself if you're not careful, so caution and education are advised.
I was especially impressed with the large spring clamps that screw onto the probes. They're easy to open, yet hold tenaciously.
I used the meter to verify that some 25-year-old wall heaters were still safe to use.
I had some usability observations. There's no detection that the probe is connected to the wrong input jack when switching functions, so it can look like you're measuring high insulation resistance with the probe still plugged into the voltage input jack instead of the insulation input jack.
The workflow using the meter is a little complicated. After checking voltage to make sure the circuit is not powered, you have to switch the probe from the voltage input jack to the insulation input jack, use the rotary selector to switch the function an IR function, use the selector pad to select "INSUL" (or one of the other IR test modes), and finally press "Test/OK" a second time to make the measurement.
Combined with the excellent probe clamps, this workflow could be considered a safety feature, since your hands will be on the meter and not near the device being measured.
I had no trouble using the IOS Flir Tools app with the Bluetooth data connection on my iPod Touch. The meter will log up to 99 measurements that can be downloaded using Bluetooth.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Texas A multifunction digital multimeter on steroids
This tool is like a multifunction digital multimeter on steroids. With the addition of being able to test insulation modes like Polarization Index, Dielectric Absorption and Earth Bond Resistance, this all-in-one tool is perfect for the electrical professional.
Sadly, the meters menu is somewhat cumbersome to navigate, and takes a bit of getting used to. I had to keep referring to the manual just to perform some basic readings.
Two bright LED work lights on the top of the meter allow you to work in dimly lit areas. A magnetic strap allows you to hang the meter from a metal surface for handsfree operation, and a built-in kickstand folds from the back of the meter. The VFD Mode uses a low-pass filter to ensure precision readings, when signals may otherwise be noisy.
The display is large and easy to read from any angle, and a backlight can be turned on for low light environments.
The meter takes 6 AA batteries (supplied).

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by OutbackJoe Great Meter
This is a very high end meter for testing variable frequency motors and relays, leakage of voltage from motors or other motor controlling devices, ground, bonding quality among many other tests. This meter also can detect voltage leaks in motors across bearings that, if not corrected will damage the motors bearings. Doing a bonding / ground test is easy since the meter has the word PASS on the front panel that illuminates in green or red for pass or fail in addition to the meters readout.
The meter also has the ability to log tests and remotely view the test via Bluetooth on a tablet or smart phone. The ability to see your test remotely is such a useful feature. Tests that in the past needed two people can now be done by just one. This feature by itself will save time and money.
The quality of the meter is superb with a large readout and very nice backlit display. There is also a built-in flashlight that is very handy since more light is almost always needed in tight spots. The quality of the test leads and clips are top quality. Cat II (1000V) on the test leads, Cat II (1000V) and IV (600V) on the test clips.
One neat little add on feature is the magnetic strap to hold the meter. Now the meter can be fastened to any surface that’s magnetic. No need to look for a flat place to set it down. What a great little feature.
This meter is really everything you could want rolled into one meter. From the standard multi-meter tests on up. Add the ability to remotely see the tests in real time and log them makes this is a truly great meter.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by JoeSeattle A great combo device for the Pro's
What a great combo Insulation tester and MultiMeter. Definitely a high end device for the Pro’s. There are a lot of extras built into this device.
Rubberized cover for good grip with extra shock absorption. Rated for a 2 meter drop.
The build quality is above average. It feels solid. Weights 21 ounces with the batteries in. It uses an HRC fuse which is a good indicator the guts are high quality.
The Soft functions are easy to access with one hand either left or right handed through the square directional pad in the middle of device.
Backlit display is very bright. The read angle of the LCD is about 60 degrees.
Metal threaded alligator clips are a great plus. No worries about accidentally pulling one out or losing it on the job. Snap on shrouds offer added protection for the probes in crowded circuits.
Hold and auto hold functions are very useful when not using the Bluetooth interface.
The Bluetooth connected instantly with my iphone. When hooked up to the FlIR camera you can add data right to the images. See examples in this review. The blue tooth range is 32 feet. The Bluetooth is very useful when doing timed duration testing, especially in a hazardous area. That extra 32 feet can be a lifesaver.
The two LED worklights are a great plus when working in dark corners or poorly lit mechanical rooms. No need to hold a flashlight and meter in one hand while trying to connect the probes with the other.
It even comes with a handy hanging magnetic strap. The magnet is plenty strong to hang the meter on a panel door or metal housing. The strap connects with velcro so you can take it off if not needed.
Only gripe is the batteries are not rechargeable. It takes six batteries so they will last a long time but keep an eye on the low battery indicator.
