Answer:
Red wires go to the hot lines coming in from your breaker. One black wire from thermostat goes to one black wire of heater, then one black wire from thermostat goes to other black wire of heater. Otherwise, thermostat is shorted out.

I don't have much to go on here so I will make some assumptions. If the thermostat is a Double Pole it will have two RED wires and two BLACK wires. The two RED wires will attach individually to the two wires coming from your power source. The two BLACK wires will attach to the two wires in the heater. In the Fahrenheat baseboard heater you will find two wires tied together with an ORANGE wire nut. These Read More

I want to put the thermostat on right side of heater. On the right side there is on one black wire and one red wire ( there is not two black wires as on the left side). According to the installation manual you can mount thermostat on either side but the wiring diagram only shows wiring the thermostat on left side with two black wires. How do I install this thermostat on the right side???? I attached both red wires to each of the power lines (240v) L1 and L2. I'm lost on how to hook up the two black wires of the thermostat. I hooked up one to the only black wire on baseboard. The red wire on the baseboard I capped and now don't know what to do with the remaining black wire on the thermostat. I already fried one thermostat and I don't want to be out another 20 bucks. Any ideas??? Thanks.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Does the job. It had to be modified to fit a different manufacturer's baseboard that is no longer made. Just had to bend down bottom tab and drill new hole, but worked perfectly.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from It gets the job done I recently purchased the 4ft electric baseboard heater and I bought the wall mount thermostat for the unit. After cutting a hole in the wood wall and trying to fish wires up through it I decided to return it and get this unit. This unit was very easy to install, do not install with out reading the instructions first as the wire code isn't easy to figure out with out reading it first. This unit took all but 5 minutes to install it and after turning it on it worked like a charm. I set it up Medium and let it run all night. Worked great!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from check your application this thermostat did not work wth the Cadet brand heaters purchased from Home Depot as well. They were too wide to fit. Returned to HD for refund and bought ones that fit a local hardware store. I gave three stars because I felt that better info on the product could have helped me avoid the extra time spent. I cannot fairly evaluate the product's quality or value.
