Customer Questions & Answers

do you have to cut into a wall to install this?

Asked by: nancy
I did. The manual says it could be surface mounted - but I don't see how. It wouldn't look very nice unless unless there is an add on kit. I have not seen that. you wouldn't want to do It this way. having it mounted in the wall is much better.

Is this unit suitable for a 2 car garage/workhop? (midwest winters)

I would like to install a wall mounted heater in my 2 car insulated non attached garage/workshop. It would operate in Chicago type winters. Would this unit be ok or should I go with something bigger? Electric is my only option. Thanks
Asked by: Onespeed
4000 W is enough especially if well insulated

Asked by: MARE
No. but that depends on your installation. You need electricity where you will be installing it. if you don't already have power at the location you need to add it or have it added by an electrician. 12-2 with ground. Also will need screws - size depends on your installation. You also need tools to cut the hole in the wall

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Poor Heater The heater keeps beeping and is driving me nuts. How do you fix this problem? Also doesn't provide enough heat for my bathroom.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Poorly engineered Constantly cycles up and down with an annoying clicking sound, fan never shuts off, blows cold air when not calling for heat. Fan is very weak. Would not recommend.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from On our third one... Redid a bathroom and wanted to put in extra heat. Loved the look of this wall heater. First one got installed and the fan didn't work. You could start it with a screwdriver, but the fan was very noisy. Returned it and got an exchange. This one, the fan worked but the touch panel did not work. You could turn it on and off with the remote but could not get to any of the programmable features, so back it went. Have my fingers crossed on this one, which is working, so far. But I am really annoyed to have to go thorough the time and gas for the extra trips to Home Depot. One thing I have to say is that customer service at Home Depot is great and we had no hassle from them.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from So noisy! I bought two of these for my bedroom. For a few months all was fine, and then over the last few weeks both units have started loudly clicking and then for random amounts of time (2 seconds, 20 seconds, 5 minutes) they whirr loudly and then more clicking before going back to quiet operation. They cycle like this for some amount of time (a minute, 10 minutes), and then go back to normal operation. The manual is useless, and I'm trying to get help from the manufacturer, but I think I'm going to end up ripping them out. They wake everyone up (even the dogs) when they do this and nobody can sleep through the night. We now turn them off (!) when we go to bed, which is really the only time we need them. Very disappointed.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nice supplemental heater. We bought this heater to add a boost to our 2nd floor. Install was easy and the heater is very quiet when running. Pros- Quiet, programmable thernostat Cons- The user/install manuals were not in the box, keypad touch beeper is obnoxious. The beeper is so bad our shepherd ran out of the house when programming the thermostat. On the upside you only touch it if you need change the program or turn it on/off for instant heat. The user manuals were easily available online.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from The Gray Beeper I purchased this heater to install in a small bedroom which was currently heated by two small baseboard heaters. Upon opening the box I was surprised and disappointed with the color of grill. The heater part number contains the letters “WH” so I assumed the grill would be white not the depressing gray that it was. Thinking that this may be a labeling mistake I checked the box and the web site which confirmed that gray is the only color available. Yuck. Next was that horrendous beeping when turning on or off or adjusting the temperature. It is very very loud. I takes some getting used to. Then I discovered that when turned on it reverts to the factory programmed daily temperature setting which is preprogrammed to set the temperature according to the time of day. If the factory setting does not suit your needs you must reprogram by way of the two panel buttons which results in a lot of loud beeping. If you would like to set the temperature temporarily higher then adjust the temperature and then set it to “hold”. Much more loud beeping. If you don’t and a preprogrammed time change occurs the temperature will revert back to the programmed setting. The worst part is that when turned off the heater does not hold the current setting but resets back to the preprogrammed setting. The remote control is a simple four button unit that has no programming functions so to set programming which requires reading the heater panel you must get down on your knees and get blasted right in the face with the loud beeping.
