CUSTOMER REVIEWS

Rated 4.5 out of 5 by 15 reviewers.
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Nicely manufactured I chose this out of a long list of attic ladders because its dimensions fit the construction of my house. It arrived very quickly and the first comment from the delivery man was in regards to its weight. True, it is heavy, especially when one is trying to install it alone. I found it to be well constructed of very nice materials. After I built the opening in the ceiling of a hallway, it only took 45 minutes to put it in, but only after ignoring most of the instructions for installing it. The instructions are in very detailed pictures and diagrams, no words, but they are based on the supposition that it is to be installed in new construction, not retro-fit. That takes some thinking and I do not recommend anyone to try to do it without help, though it can be done. It works well and is very solid. May 28, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Easy to lower and raise My Fakro Insulated Steel Attic Ladder is a great replacement for the old wooden attic stairs. These are much lighter to raise and lower and are much sturdier to climb especially with a load in your arms. I have an old house so also wonder if things will fit correctly and these stairs fit lovely in the space. It took 2 men just 4 hours to remove the old stairs and install the new ones. July 17, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Outstanding Ladder, but.... The metal ladder is outstanding -- sturdy and appears durable. However, the width was disappointing. At 6'2" and 220 it feels tight (my bad on purchase, I suppose). But nothing that significant, just something to think about when you purchase. My only issue with the product is the latch... while no issues yet, it seems shallow, insubstantial and I suspect future issues. My biggest issue was the the installation "instructions." They were all illustrations with no words. Really?! I am of below average skills and thanks to YouTube (not these silly "instructions") I was finally able to figure out the installation. The instructions were horrible, in my opinion. Those relatively minor issues aside, I am happy with this product and thrilled with the new storage space it has provided my family. January 31, 2012
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Very well constructed, highly recommended This steel attic ladder is well made and very strong. I had it professionally installed but I think a reasonably competent home handyperson who is able to correctly identify and assess structural capabilities of the installation infrastructure and use the appropriate screws could handle the job. I have used it a lot, for about two years now, and it is as solid as ever. The additional weight of steel vs. aluminum is no problem. I wanted a ladder strong enough for regular use and this works well. May 18, 2014
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Just ok I needed a special size for my attic opening so I had little choice in ladders. This one was not easy to shorten. The legs had to be cut with a metal saw, there was no adjustment for length. The plastic feet at the bottom of the legs were cracked, but the manufacturer sent me replacements quickly. The ladder was an "insulated" model so I expected to receive insulation but you receive a thin board that you are supposed to attach insulation to. October 26, 2012
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Minor unexpected complications in installation.... So, the ladder itself is very nice, high quality, sturdy as can be. BUT... installing it has been less-than-simple - for my professional contractors. For some reason, although it says that it is for an 8 foot ceiling, the ladder is too long. By 13 Inches. The instructions (which aren't written out in any way; they are horribly unclear pictograms that appear to be intended to confuse any user regardless of their spoken language) do show something that appears to be a hacksaw, and in fact once it is hacked down to length, it fits. Now, I understand the need for flexibility in length, but this seems like a whole lot to me. It also has other adjustments in other places for minor length fluctuations, probably up to at least 5 - 6 inches. Why then do you make a metal ladder 13 inches too long? <sigh> November 18, 2010
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Excellent product Easy to install. Good heavy duty door and stairway. June 12, 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by good attic ladder This is the second attic ladder I've installed in my home (separate attics in garage and house). The first was another brand, and was much less expensive. For this project I needed something to fit in a smaller opening and this fit the dimension. Install was easy with lessons learned from the previous project. This ladder is steel, and quite sturdy. I also appreciate that the door latches rather than rely on the spring tension to hold the door closed. Overall good product and would purchase again. July 1, 2014
