Product Overview

Modern 300 lb. duty rating with ceiling opening 22.5 in. x 54 in. This scissor metal LST ladder is made from quality steel and wood, nicely finished with attention to detail. The LST is equipped with a locking mechanism, which is installed on inside surface of a 1.5 in. thick insulated and sealed door. Scissors system locks the door in a fully open position ensuring easy and safe operation. Ladder is very well-balanced; it unfolds and folds almost by itself with minimum force. The S-shaped steps give a modern appearance and serve as handrails while climbing the ladder. The scissor ladder is equipped with two pairs of springs. The first supports the operation of the ladder, the other helps open and close the door. The door is very well-balanced; it opens and closes easily with no sudden movements. Ladder length may be adjusted by adding or removing step segments (Step model # LSS 31). Each step increases 8 in. ceiling heights. Max two steps.

  • Fits in rough opening 22.5 in. x 54 in. and recommended max ceiling heights 9 ft. 6 in. as standard
  • Modern and stylish design with very pleasant touch
  • Plastic wheels prevent floor from scratching, high quality ladder with anti-slip steps, great stability

Customer Reviews

Rated 4.5 out of 5 by 2 reviewers.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great ladder for limited space This ladder is easy to operate with smooth operation. Works well where you have limited swing or floor space. comes with everything needed for a smooth install. Has a trim kit that is put on prior to installation. It is a great investment. Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Good Ladder, Very, Very Heavy Check the other reviews here on Home Depot. There is one that really nails the detail. This review covers the 22.5 by 54 Fakro model. At approximately 90 pounds, you don't toss this up to the ceiling and attach it. We used a block and tackle system to lift it into place. Attaching a 90 pound object to a nine foot ceiling is a bit of a project. This is a one piece unit that arrives ready to fit into your attic opening. It anticipates you have 6 inch joists, but I have 4 inch (which means less than 4) and this unit extends up above the level of the joists. I had room, so it was not a problem. Just something to consider. The nice trim around the bottom required us to drill through the metal trim to make it easier to attach. If you see you'll need to do this too, then do it before you lift it into place. The instructions are lacking, so check around for videos that might be available too. There is not an abundance of scissor stair options out there at this point, so based on that, this is a decent deal. November 20, 2014
