I had this backsplash about 4 inches from my stove and they warped. It looked great, but I wouldn't use this as a fireplace surround.

Hello! Thank you for your interest in our products. One of our backsplash panels’ greatest feature is that it will fit over existing ceramic tile. We recommend using our tape adhesive over glue as it will stick to tile more aggressively. Keep in mind our panels are Thermo-Plastic and although they are fire rated you would want to make sure the area where the panels are placed does not exceed temperatures over 140 degrees. Generally a good rule of thumb is if the area gets too hot for your hand, it will be too hot for the panels. Please let customer care know if we can be of any further assistance (800-434-3750). Hey Julie,
Yes, you can install this on a fireplace surround.
Just make sure to use the proper adhesive and/or double sided tape by Fasade to ensure it will fasten successfully on the surround.

I honestly don't want to rip it out. We discovered our floors had possible asbestos used in the glue from over 50 years ago, so don't really want to rip it out if I dont have to

Great question! The wall to which you plan to install backsplash panels to needs to be freshly cleaned, free from dust, grease, wax, etc. After you’ve cleaned the wall, be sure that it is dried thoroughly. Acceptable substrates are drywall, plaster or clean, smooth tile (glazed, porcelain type tile; not porous or textured). Any damaged, loose or uneven areas must be repaired, patched, leveled and primed. Fill cracks and irregularities with wallboard compound or spackling, then sand smooth with fine-grade sandpaper. Any porous material like highly textured drywall, plywood (or any raw wood without primer), and wallpaper unless removed, sanded and primed, will result in adhesive failure. If you use decorative tacks or nails to install the panels, you will not need to rip down the linoleum. But, if you use tape or construction adhesive, we recommend tearing down the linoleum before installing. Please contact customer care for additional installation troubleshooting (800.434.3750). Our kitchen has a backsplash made of plasic tiles from maybe the 50s or 60s. (I'm guessing.) Could your product be applied on top of them?

As long as it is installed per the manufacturer's instructions, then placing it over a backsplash will be fine.

I would think the Fasade would work there. You might just need to adhere with some type of adhesive rather than the double sided tape.

Once you have your backsplash installed, the panels can be cleaned with soap and water only. Any harsh abrasives will damage the finish on the tiles. For this reason, we normally do not recommend installing our panels inside a shower or bathtub. For additional protection in high traffic areas (outside of tub or above shower) we recommend applying a silicone sealant for moisture resistance. This will ensure quality protection for years to come. If you have any other questions or concerns, please feel free to contact us (800.434.3750). Read Less

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by LOVE this stuff!! We bought this stuff to put in our kids' playhouse. It looks really cool in there with the blue/grey accents and under mount lighting. Looks like a million bucks. It wipes off easily and was easy for my husband to install. He applied the border edges as well and that really added the finishing touch. He applied it very "permanently" with glue (although you can use other ways to adhere it). It won't be coming off anytime soon! We purchased it in store, but noticed they have so much more to choose from on line as well. We bought the smoked pewter and it ended up being the perfect color to accent everything else in there. I would highly recommend this to anyone wanting a great look for a fraction of the cost for a backsplash, accent or even ceiling. October 12, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Easy to use I used these to decorate my faux fireplace's surround. I used a box cutter and it was fairly easy to cut the backsplash tiles. March 20, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great Idea! I was tired of trying to wipe or scrub splatter of my walls and had been wanting a back splash in my kitchen for a long time. My brother-in-law put this up in their kitchen when they did a remodel and I liked it a lot. I decided to check into it. The panels are made of plastic although they look metallic. You have to touch it to believe it is not. Each panel is sold separately, which really adds up if you have a lot of wall space to cover. I decided to go for it anyway. I chose the design I wanted and bought the sliders for the corner and ends. I cut out all the holes for the outlet covers, switch plates, etc. . . by making a template out of paper and drawing it onto the back of the panel with a marker. I used some good, solid kitchen shears to do the cutting. I would NOT recommend using an exacto knife; it has the tendency to slip, or cut too far. I used masking taped to put up the panels where I wanted them to go after I had the openings cut out to make sure everything fit properly. My teenage sons actually installed them for me using the caulk. I turned out wonderful! Not only can I wipe the back splash down for easy clean up, it looks fantastic. It is exactly what I wanted. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great look and easy instalation! This back-splash was very easy to install. Just marked it, cut it with scissors, and used the tape to adhere it. A little pricey if you have a large area but great stuff. October 30, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by This product has a great selection of different colors & patterns. The Fasade backsplash we installed was easy, inexpensive and changed the whole look of of our kitchen and we did it in only a few hours. I would definitely recommend this product to anyone looking for an easy remodel solution. January 30, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Wow. Wow. Wow. Love this product. I definitely suggest using a glue to keep the backsplash in place. Take your time doing this project. The traditional pattern matches up well and you cannot see the seems. January 24, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great Takes a While to Figure It Out! We used the panels as a kitchen back splash. We first watched videos to learn what to do but would instead recommend using sharp scissors cutting on lines vs trying to score with blades. Be very sure to orient bottom from top and always measure everything. We dry fitted it all but had to order more so once you use adhesive be sure to allow for later pieces to be added. Buy an extra panel we made mistakes but ended up using waste. Take your time and be patient. We also had to piece together a slightly larger area above a desk and it's hardly noticeable. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Easy to install with beautiful results This item was easy to install. Used around my plain fireplace and this made a huge difference. December 28, 2011
