Hello Leo, Good Question. I would use These or the 2/7/8 inch Headlok screws. Headlok Screws have a Washer Type Head Where as these are more like a washer Hex Head. Both are strong sturdy screws & provide excellent support & holding capabilities. Hope this Helped.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Excellent Wood Screws & Zip Right In! I bought these to make a 14 Foot 4x4 Pole for a Security Light & an Antenna. I didn't have any 4x4 14 foot options at my Store so I purchased 2 2x4s at 14 foot lengths & screwed them together with these. They hold Tight & made a very sturdy Pole. They zipped right in & did not come through to the other side of board either, All in all both TimberLok & HeadLok screws are OUTSTANDING! Buy without hesitation! BTW: Thompson's Water Seal & Stain In Acorn is Awesome! (To Protect Post) February 20, 2016
